Lionel Messi is 6/4 to sign for Barcelona this summer

Lionel Messi is 6/4 to rejoin Barcelona this summer amid reports that the club have contacted his representatives.

The World Cup winner, who left Barcelona for financial reason in the summer of 2021 for Paris Saint-Germain, looks increasingly likely to leave the French capital in the summer when is contract ends.

Messi's name was met by whistles from some PSG fans before their defeat at home to Lyon last weekend. PSG were knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich in the round of 16 last month.

Rivaldo: "Messi never wanted to leave"

At Barca, he is loved by fans and is the club's all-time top scorer with 672 goals in 778 games.

Betfair ambassador Rivaldo, who played for Barcelona, said in his Betfair column this week:

"It's possible that he never wanted to leave Catalonia. We will see what his decision will be at the end of the season, but a return to Barcelona should not be ruled out of his mind at this stage."

Other options for Messi would include following Cristiano Ronaldo's example and signing for any Saudi Premier League club (6/1 on the Sportsbook).

But Messi, who lead Argentina to World Cup glory in Qatar in December, has shown that he can still compete at the highest level and he may want another season or two at a top European club.

With Barcelona 12 points clear at the top of La Liga and [1.01] to win the title, the timing may be right for him to return to Camp Nou and be managed by is former-team-mate Xavi.

You can get 16/1 on Messi moving to Manchester City for a reunion with his old boss Pep Guardiola.
