1 September - Betfair reopen market and make Arsenal 5/2 to get Alvarez

Arsenal are 5/23.50 to sign Julian Alvarez after Betfair reopened the market on the Atletico Madrid forward on transfer deadline day.

He has returned to training with Atletico Madrid but Arsenal are still pushing to do the deal. They want Alvarez badly and believe he could boost their attack as they bid to challenge on all fronts in 2026/27.

Is Mikel Arteta going to get his man? The Arsenal boss has reportedly been speaking to Alvarez in an attempt to lure him to the Emirates.

Alvarez would prefer to sign for Barcelona but that move is 14/115.00 as Atletico insist they will not sell to their La Liga rivals.

The odds indicate that Arsenal have work to do if they are to get Alvarez, and he is 1/61.17 to stay at Atletico, but the Gunners are a persistent force in the transfer market and are prepared to take this one to the wire.

09:30 - Five deadline day moves the markets predict will happen

Transfer deadline day is here and the Betfair Sportsbook markets have the latest odds on which moves are likely to happen as clubs scramble to acquire and offload players.

You can get the latest from every transfer market here but here are five deals that are odds-on to go through on deadline day.

The big one concerns Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez who looks almost certain to sign for Manchester City before the end of today. He's 1/61.17 to sign for Enzo Maresca's team and 9/43.25 to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Manu Kone is 2/91.22 to join Chelsea from Roma.

Monaco's Lamine Camara is also odds-on to join the Blues at 8/131.61.

Arsenal are 4/91.44 to add winger Malick Fofana from Lyon.

Jamie Lewelling is 8/111.73 to sign for Roma but they could face competition from Everton 5/23.50.

31 August - Five transfers still likely to happen according to the Betfair Sportsbook

With around 30 hours remaining until the summer transfer window closes the Betfair Sportsbook still has markets on some players in demand or those reportedly on their way out of their current clubs.

The most likely player to make a move is Folarin Balogun with betting suspended on him swapping Monaco for the blue side of Merseyside with Everton submitting an official bid for the 25-year-old striker.

The red side of Merseyside is expected to be active for the remainder of the window with Liverpool desperate to bring in another winger, and that player is likely to be Yankuba Minteh with the Brighton man odds-on at 8/131.61 to join the Reds.

As we reported on Saturday, Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott is reportedly a transfer target for Chelsea, and he's 8/111.73 to join the Blues before the end of the window.

Away from the Premier League Wrexham are now the favourites to sign free agent Jamie Vardy.

The former Leicester striker has been linked to a number of clubs during the summer with both West Ham and Sheffield Wednesday fancied to sign him at one point, but it now seems Wales will be Vardy's next destination with Wrexham 8/111.73 to sign him.

And one player who may not play in the Premier League anytime soon is former Manchester United outcast and now free agent Jadon Sancho, who is odds-on at 8/151.53 to sign for his former club Borussia Dortmund.

29 August - Gakpo fancied to join Spurs while Scott could be Chelsea bound

The Betfair Sportsbook saw two significant market moves on Saturday afternoon with Cody Gakpo's odds being slashed from 3/14.00 to 10/111.91 to join Tottenham before Tuesday's deadline, meaning the odds now suggest that he is more likely to be a Spurs player than he is to remain a Reds player (11/102.11).

It was reported on Saturday morning that Liverpool have agreed a £123m transfer fee to sign winger Bradley Barcola from PSG meaning the exit door for Gakpo is now wide open should Liverpool wish to sell.

Bournemouth midfield Alex Scott was the other market mover on Saturday afternoon after he put in a Player of the Match performance, scoring the Cherries' goal in a 1-1 draw with Everton.

Scott is now odds on at 8/111.73 to sign for Chelsea before the summer transfer window closes on Tuesday.

28 August - Alvarez to Arsenal drifts with Atleti stay odds-on

Earlier today we reported below that the price on Arsenal had shortened to 4/61.67. This afternoon, however, the transfer drifted to odds against - it's currently 11/82.38 at 14:00 - in a sign the Gunners might not get their man.

You can read more on the situation below. Alvarez wants to leave but Atletico have refused to sell him to Barcelona and that has created a standoff between club and player.

Atletico manager Diego Simeone said on Friday, however, that he would welcome back Alvarez who has reportedly not trained with the team since the club told him they would not sell to Barcelona.

The 26-year-old will not be involved in Atletico's match against Sevilla this weekend, Simeone has confirmed, but the manager is prepared to do what he can to solve the situation and get the forward playing for him again.

If Atletico are to sell, they may be happier to talk to a Premier League club which is where Arsenal come in. But at the time of writing Alvarez is 4/71.57 to still be in Simeone's squad come the closure of the transfer window on Tuesday 1 September.

11:00 - Alvarez 4/6 to sign for Arsenal before next week's deadline

Arsenal shortened to 4/61.67 to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid after reports the Argentinian forward has stopped training with the Spanish club.

Alvarez is said to have not attended training with Atletico since the club told him earlier this week that they would not sell him to Barcelona.

Atletico may be more open to selling to a Premier League club so the English champions, who want to bring in another goalscorer, are his best option.

Yesterday, Arsenal were 6/42.50 to get Alvarez, and staying at Atletico was odds-on, but the prices have flipped, with Alvarez 11/102.11 to be at the Mestalla this time next week - and the market now indicates that he will be a Gunner by the time the window closes on 1 September.

27 August - Alvarez and Fernandez set for Arsenal and Man City

A pair of high profile Argentinian players are set to move to Premier League title contenders in the final days of the summer transfer window, according to the latest Betfair Sportsbook prices.

Manchester City are 1/41.25 to get Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea as Enzo Maresca, who managed the World Cup winner at the west London club, targets a midfield reinforcement.

The move was thought to be off earlier in the window after City baulked at Chelsea's £120m asking price but, as next week's deadline nears, the Etihad club are expected to get their man.

Former-City strike Julian Alvarez, meanwhile, is 6/52.20 to return to the Premier League at Arsenal.

A fast moving market makes the champions the favourites to sign the Argentinian who currently plays for Atletico Madrid.

The La Liga club will not give up Alvarez without a fight, though, and he is 8/111.73 to stay with Diego Simeone's team.

26 August - Liverpool interest in Barcola ramps up

Liverpool have shortened to 4/111.36 to sign Bradley Barcola from Paris SG after it was reported that the Reds had held fresh, and positive, talks with the Ligue 1 club ahead of next Tuesday's transfer deadline.

It appears that the main stumbling block is PSG's reported £145m valuation of Barcola, a fee that Liverpool are not prepared to meet, however, relationships between the two clubs are said to be strong and it is hopeful that a deal can be agreed.

Liverpool are stepping up their attempts to bring in not just one, but two wingers that will suit new manager Andoni Iraola's preferred style of play.

Brighton's Yankuba Minteh is one reported target with Liverpool desperate to bring in a right-sided attacker to replace Mo Salah. The Reds are 11/102.11 to sign Minteh, but should they look elsewhere then Barcola's PSG teammate Ibrahim Mbaye is another possible target.

Will Gakpo swap Liverpool for Manchester or London

Manchester City are 9/43.25 and Tottenham 3/14.00 to sign Cody Gakpo from Liverpool before the end of the summer transfer window.

Gakpo started and scored in Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Newcastle on Sunday and he's not thought to want away from Anfield, nor are the Reds actively seeking to sell him.

But with Andoni Iraola preferring natural wingers, and Liverpool long odds-on to sign Bradley Barcola from PSG (see above update) - who would become first choice on the left side of the Reds' attack - then Liverpool may choose to cash in on Gakpo should they receive a tempting offer.

25 August - Chelsea shorten to 6/4 to sign Martinez after win over Fulham

Chelsea are 6/42.50 to sign goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa after Blues number one Robert Sanchez was at fault for two goals in Monday's win over Fulham.

Martinez could be set to leave Villa who have signed highly-rated goalkeeper Zion Suzuki this summer. The transfer window has one week to go so if Chelsea want the Argentinian stopper they need to act quickly.

Sanchez is 6/42.50 to stay at Villa so his future is in the balance. He was not in the Villa squad for Sunday's defeat at Brighton.

Juventus are 4/15.00 to sign Sanchez but could be unwilling to meet Villa's asking price.

Could Tottenham make a move for the World Cup winner? They are 9/25.50.

He turns 34 next week and could decide a lucrative move away from the Premier League is his best option. If so, Martinez is 13/27.50 to join international team-mate Lionel Messi at Inter Miami and 15/28.50 to sign for Saudi club Al-Hilal.

24 August - Grealish, Jesus and Vardy odds-on to move in final week

With one week to go before the transfer window closes, Jack Grealish, Gabriel Jesus and Jamie Vardy are odds-on to seal moves.

Grealish is 4/91.44 to join Everton, where he spent last season on loan and impressed before a foot injury ended his campaign, by 1 September.

He came off the bench in Man City's 2-1 win over Bournemouth yesterday but is expected to leave in this window.

Former-club Aston Villa are 3/14.00 to bring Grealish back to the west Midlands.

Arsenal's Gabriel Jesus is another man that the Betfair Sportsbook expects to move before the window closes.

The Premier League winner is 2/51.40 to join Napoli and give Serie A a go as he tries to kickstart his career after injuries.

We reported yesterday that West Ham are odds-on to look to Jamie Vardy to help them solve their start of the season woes, following their defeat to Charlton on Saturday.

He is 8/151.53 to pitch up in east London sometime over the next week and add firepower to the Hammers' squad. They are 9/43.25 to finish top of the Championship despite taking just one point from their opening two fixtures.

23 August - Vardy odds-on to join West Ham

West Ham are now strong favourites at 8/151.53 to sign former England striker Jamie Vardy after the Londoners made a poor start to life in the Championship.

Vardy is a free agent after leaving Italian side Cremonese and it appears that it's a straight battle between the Hammers and League One outfit Sheffield Wednesday as to who wins his signature.

West Ham are strong favourites to win the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League last season, but they've made a poor start to life in the second tier, picking up just one point from their two games played. They lost at home to Charlton on Saturday with striker Valentin Castellanos missing a stoppage-time penalty.

Should Vardy not arrive at the London Stadium then it's likely that Sheffield Wednesday - available to back at 6/42.50 - will be his next destination. Vardy spent six years as a youth player with the Owls but failed to make a single appearance before being released.

21 August - Villa overtake Everton as favs to sign Grealish

Aston Villa have overtaken Everton to become the favourites to sign Jack Grealish by 1 September.

The Midlands club have sold key personnel this summer, including Morgan Rogers and Youri Tielemans, and are 8/111.73 to sign Grealish to help plug the gaps.

Grealish joined Villa at the age of six and went on to the captain the club before he signed for Manchester City in 2021.

He was part of City's treble winning side but fell out of favour under Pep Guardiola and spent last season on loan at Everton.

The Toffees were 4/51.80 to sign him in this window but have drifted to 6/42.50 as they dither over whether to bring in the City man.

Grealish played 45 minutes for City in last weekend's Community Shield defeat to Arsenal but is not thought to have a future at the club.

19 August - Lewis-Skelly, Martinelli and Jesus could exit the Emirates

Premier League champions Arsenal showed why they are the 6/52.20 favouries to retain their crown with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Man City in Sunday's Community Shield, but their impressive squad could look a tad smaller in the coming weeks with potential exits for three of their players.

The mot likely player to leave the club according to the Betfair Sportsbook Transfer Specials is Gabriel Jesus who is odd-on at 2/51.40 to join Napoli before the transfer window closes on 1 September. He's 5/23.50 to remain an Arsenal player.

Another Gunner who could move to Italy is Gabriel Martinelli. Despite Arsenal selling Leandro Trossard it's unlikely that Martinelli would be a regular starter this season with the Gunners signing winger Christos Tzolis who put in a Players of the Match performance against Man City on Sunday.

Martinelli can be backed at 6/42.50 to join Roma or 2/13.00 to sign for Napoli. He's 7/24.50 to sign for La Liga side Atletico Madrid.

And finally, a potential exit is on the cards for Myles Lewis-Skelly. Despite starting Sunday's Community Shield he's a player seeming in high demand with Manchester United at 13/102.30, Chelsea at 2/13.00 and Newcastle at 3/14.00 possible destinations for the 19-year-old.

18 August - Chelsea 3/1 to sign Villa keeper Martinez

Chelsea are 3/14.00 to sign Emiliano Martinez after Betfair launched a new market on the Aston Villa goalkeeper in response to speculation about his future.

The World Cup winner has been linked with a move to the Blues and with Juventus 7/18.00. For all the reports claiming that the Argentinian is on his way out of Villa Park, however, he is 8/111.73 to stay.

Villa, meanwhile, could be in for Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki. At 23, the Japan international is a decade younger than Martinez.

Villa have already sold key players Morgan Rogers and Youri Tielemans this summer and Unai Emery will need to weigh up whether he is prepared to let Martinez, who has been a key part of their success in recent season, go too.

17 August - Grealish 4/5 to join Everton

Jack Grealish is 4/51.80 to sign for Everton in the transfer window, which has just over two weeks to run, despite coming on for Manchester City in their Community Shield defeat to Arsenal.

City were well-beaten by the Premier League champions and new manager Enzo Maresca will be even more determined to bring in players following their 3-0 loss.

Rodri's transfer to Barcelona looks set to be confirmed after the midfielder agreed to join the La Liga club for around £65m. He spent seven seasons at City during which time he estalished himself as one of the world's best midfielders. His departure should mean they have more funds to make signings.

Grealish played 45 minutes against Arsenal but his appearance was interpreted by some as a chance to shine in the shop window rather than stake a claim for a role at City.

He spent last season on loan at Everton and made a decent impact before his campaign was curtailed by a foot injury.

Aston Villa 4/15.00, who sold Grealish to City, are the second favourites to sign him.

16 August - Rashford 3/10 to stay at Old Trafford

Marcus Rashford is 3/101.30 to remain a Manchester United player after the summer transfer window closes following a substitute appearance in the Red Devils' 4-2 defeat to AC Milan in Saturday's friendly.

It was his first appearance for United since Viktoria Plzen away in the Europa League on 12 December 2024 following loan spells at Aston Villa and then Barcelona, where he was largely expected to sign on a permanent basis.

He is now 25/126.00 to sign for Barcelona after the Spanish giants instead turned to Newcastle's Anthony Gordon.

Rashford wore the number nine shirt in Saturday's game, but club officials were quick to make it clear that it was by no means a permanent number for him, casting slight doubt as to whether he will definitely be a part of Michael Carrick's squad come September.

Fenerbahce at 9/25.50, Aston Villa at 5/16.00 and Tottenham at 13/27.50 are the three clubs at the top of the market should you want to take a punt on Rashford not remaining a United player.

Gabriel Martinelli is 1/12.00 to sign for Galatasaray as the Turkish giants consider spending £38m on Arsenal's Brazilian.

The Gunners have spent heavily in the transfer window on Bruno Guimarães and others, as they prepare to defend their Premier League title, and offloading players in the final weeks of the transfer window looks lilkely.

Could Lewis-Skelly be Man Utd's left-back solution?

Arsenal could also look to sell Myles Lewis-Skelly. The defender was reportedly offered to Manchester United who are interested in signing a left-back before 1 September.

Lewis-Skelly is 11/102.11 to join the Red Devils while Chelsea 15/82.88 are another potential option for the 19-year-old.

The position is one of United's priorities, as Luke Shaw's career continues to be interrupted by injuries.

Betfair punters believe City are listening and have backed the combative Argentinian to move north for a reunion with Enzo Maresca who was his boss at Stamford Bridge.

City 6/4 to sign Chelsea's Fernandez

Enzo Fernandez is 6/42.50 to sign for Manchester City after Chelsea gave clubs a deadline of Friday this week if they want to sign the Argentinian.

Chelsea want £120m for the midfielder and have told clubs interested to put up of shut up, as Xabi Alonso and his players prepare for the Premier League season.

Fernandez was linked with a move to Real Madrid in March but, while the Spanish club are 10/34.33 they said they are no longer interested.

Atletico Madrid are the next shortest price in the market but they are 16/117.00.

If Fernandez is to leave Stamford Bridge in this window, Man City is his most likely destination.

11 August - Vardy's heading for Hammers at 3/10

Jamie Vardy will return to English football with West Ham, according to the new Betfair Sportsbook market which makes the former-England striker 3/101.30 to join the Championship club.

At 39, he is a free agent after spending last season at Cremonese, for whom he scored seven goals in 29 appearances, after leaving Leicester in 2025.

A return to the League 1 Foxes for Vardy is 7/24.50 while Sheffield Wednesday are 4/15.00 and Premier League Brighton are 13/27.50 if they decide the veteran has something to offer in the top flight.

West Ham are the most likely destination for Vardy, as they looked to bolster their attack for their promotion bid. They are 7/42.75 favourites to win the second tier title and make an immediate return to the Premier League following last season's relegation.

10 August - Brazilian odds-on to leave Gunners for Napoli

Gabriel Jesus is 10/111.91 to sign for Napoli before the transfer window closes in just over three weeks, with Arsenal insisting they will only consider a permanent deal for the Brazilian.

Napoli reportedly made an approach for the player and were told by Arsenal that they would have to pay around £17m. Jesus has one year left on his current deal with the Premier League champions.

He could become the latest Premier League star, after Scott McTominay, Romelu Lukaku and Rasmus Hojlund, to try to kickstart his career at the Serie A club.

Jesus scored six goals in 27 appearances last season but spent much of the campaign out injured after suffering cruciae ligamen damage in his knee.

If he can stay fit then, at 29, he should still have plenty offer. But it looks like his future lies away from north London. A move to a Saudi Arabian club is 10/34.33 while Atletico Madrid 5/16.00 and Juventus 5/16.00 are outsiders to sign him.

9 August - Romero transfer latest: La Liga likeliest destination

The press are enjoying the prospect of last year's Spurs captain Cristian Romero moving to arch rivals Arsenal but the Betfair markets suggest it is not going to happen.

The Argentine defender is as short as [1/5] to go to Atletico Madrid with Barcelona next up at 9/43.25.

Arsenal, while not dismissed by the Betfair traders, are [6/1].

The financial heft of the Premier League makes the move a tricky one with the Gunners likely able to outbid their La Liga rivals, but it is reported that the Spurs hierarchy would not consider selling to their neighbours.

7 August - Is Romero really leaving Spurs...for Arsenal?!

It's one of the cheekier stories of the 2026 summer transfer window.

Could Cristian Romero move between arch rivals Spurs and Arsenal?

The Premier League champions have issues at the back with WIlliam Saliba out for some time with a back injury

At 6/17.00, the odds on the Betfair Sportsbook suggest it's a transfer that is not going to happen...but also that it's not out of the question.

Favourite in the market is Atletico Madrid, at [2/9], where Romero would link up with a host of fellow countrymen including manager Diego Simeone.

Inter Milan have long rumoured as Romero's next destination and they are next up in the betting at [9/4] before staying at Spurs ([3/1]).

And the next club in the list? Tottenham's most hated.

Liverpool 13/8 to sign Djed Spence

Liverpool are 13/82.63 to sign Djed Spence - the shortest price in the market other than the 4/71.57 on him staying at Tottenham - amid mixed reports about the England defender's future.

Some outlets say Spence is open to the move to the Reds who could see him as the solution to their problems in both full-back areas, while one says the Anfield club will not try to sign him.

Manchester United 7/24.50 have also been linked with Spence who impressed for England at the World Cup with his daring runs and strong tackling. The Red Devils have a weakness at right-back and left-back Luke Shaw is injury-prone. Spence's ability to play in either position could appeal to Michael Carrick.

Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi has said he wants Spence, who signed a new contract last year, but Spainish defender Pedro Porro is still likely to start ahead of him for the team.

6 August - Betting suspended on Rodri to Barcelona

Betfair have suspended betting on Rodri moving back to La Liga after a plunge on Barcelona.

The La Liga champions looked set to miss out on their man but saw a sudden odds shift from 15/28.50 to 2/91.22 before the market was suspended.

Real Madrid had been 8/111.73 favourite to capture Rodri's signature.

Everton odds-on to bring back Grealish

Jack Grealish will sign for Everton before the end of the transfer window, according to the Betfair market on the Man City forward's future.

The 30-year-old is 4/51.80 to return to the Toffees where he spent last season on loan. A move to Aston Villa, where Grealish began his career, is out to 4/15.00.

Grealish is unwanted by City who signed him for £100m, the then record for an English player, in 2021. He fell out of favour with Pep Guardiola a couple of years ago and was allowed to go out on loan last summer.

He played 20 times for Everton last season, registering six assists and scoring twice, before his season was cut short by a foot injury.

Neto and Balogun both set for Premier League moves say new markets

Betfair have opened new markets on Pedro Neto and Folarin Balogun with Manchester City and Tottenham the favourites to sign the Portguese and American respectively.

Neto's move from Chelsea to City is 8/151.53 as Enzo Maresca looks to bring in the winger who played under him last season at Stamford Bridge.

Tottenham want to sign Savinho from City and Neto is being touted as the perfect replacement. At 26, he's been playing in the English top flight since 2019, first with Wolves then Chelsea for the past two seasons.

Tottenham are also in the mix for USA World Cup breakout star Balogun who is 7/42.75 to join Robert De Zerbi's north London makeover.

Spurs are in the market for some firepower and the American, who scored three goals at this year's finals, is trying to engineer a move away from Ligue 1 club Monaco.

Chelsea are 10/34.33 - the next shortest price of any club in the market on Balogun.

5 August - Is Arsenal's Vini move back on?

Betfair have reopened the Vinicius Jr transfer market and Arsenal are available at [15/8] to sign the Brazilian.

An ESPN report says talks between Vinicius Jr's team and Real Madrid are due to resume today with an offer worth 22m euro on the table.

The 26-year-old Brazilian forward has less than a year left on his contract and, being in his prime, is keen to sign a bumper deal reportedly around 30m per year. Real are 3/101.30 to get the deal over the line.

However, if he does agree to stay with Real Madrid it is Arsenal, reportedly about to sign Bruno Guimaraes, who are clear favourites to capture his signature. The north Londoners are 15/82.88 in the betting with every other club at huge odds - Man City and PSG the next in the betting at 25/126.00.

4 August - Could Turkish club sign Rashford?

Fenerbahce shortened to 9/25.50 to sign Marcus Rashford as they emerged as potential suitors for the Manchester United forward.

The Turkish club are reportedly prepared to break the bank to bring the 28-year-old to Istanbul and make him their highest-paid player, as they bid to win the Super Lig title, after losing out to Galatasaray last season, and make progress in European competition.

It would be a surprise if Rashford were to sign for Fenerbahce. Reintegrating him at United could, however, be tricky even for Michael Carrick who is said to have a good relationship with the player.

Rashford left United on loan for Aston Villa in January 2025, then spent last season on loan at Barcelona, following a breakdown in his relationship with the then United boss Ruben Amorim.

The England forward was not expected to play for United again but his move to Barca looks unlikely to become permanent and he is 3/101.30 to be at United come the end of the transfer window.

Could he play for United again? He still has plenty to offer but United have moved on since Rashford last played for them. Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo all enjoyed impressive first seasons in the Red Devils attack last term.

As Carrick tries to build on the success he enjoyed as manager in the second half of last season, he will not want to disrupt the coherence and positivity in the United ranks. As it stands, however, the market predicts Rashford will be a United player this season unless he makes a surprise move over the coming weeks.

Everton 15/8 to sign Grealish from Man City

Everton are 15/82.88 to sign Jack Grealish after the forward spent last season with the Merseysiders on loan from Manchester City

Grealish has returned to City but is in the final 12 months of his contract and, after falling out of favour two years ago, is unlikely to be offered new terms by them.

He made a decent start at Everton, assisting goals and prompting speculation about an England recall, but his season was curtailed when he injured his foot in January.

Now 30, he needs to get his career back on track and stay fit. Everton are reportedly keen on bringing Grealish back this summer but he reportedly earns £300K per week at City and would have to take a pay cut to move to the Toffees.

Atletico Madrid are 3/14.00 if Grealish decides that the time is right for a move abroad. The Spaniards could offer him Champions League football and the chance to compete in La Liga.

The chance to earn a fortune in Saudi Arabia could mean Al-Hilal 4/15.00 are contenders to sign Grealish.

Alternatively, if Grealish wishes to return to the place where it all began for him, a move to former-club Aston Villa is 7/24.50. Unai Emery has big plans for this season, after Villa won the Europa League last term, and the team are back in the Champions League.

2 August - Atleti and Chelsea both 9/4 to sign Romero as Inter move stalls

Inter Milan drifted to 6/42.50 on the Betfair Sportsbook to sign Cristian Romero from Tottenham after reports that the player has not agreed personal terms with the Italian club.

Spurs agreed to sell the defender, who was yesterday 8/151.53 to make the move, to the Italian giants, but the deal has hit a snag and other clubs are interested.

Atletico Madrid 9/43.25 and Chelsea 9/43.25 are chief among them while Barcelona 9/25.50 could yet move for the Argentinian.

Chelsea sign Welbeck from Brighton

Chelsea, meanwhile, have completed the signing of Danny Welbeck from Brighton for an undisclosed fee. The striker, 35, has a two-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

Welbeck, who revived his career at Brighton and scored 13 Premier League goals last season, is the Blues' third signing of the summer, following Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa and Marco Palestra from Atalanta.

1 August - Spurs agree to sell Romero to Inter but player yet to agree terms

Inter Milan shortened to 8/151.53 to sign Cristian Romero from Tottenham after reports that the clubs had reached a verbal agreement on a deal. The Italian club, who signed England defender John Stones earlier this week, are keen to land the Spurs centre-back and have been odds-on for days.

However, reports said the Italian club were yet to agree personal terms with Romero and one claimed his representatives were trying to engineer a transfer to Spain, with Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Real Madrid all cited as potential destinations.

Of the Spanish trio, Atletico are the shortest price at 5/23.50 on the Betfair Sportsbook. They are managed by Romero's countryman Diego Simeone who watched the Tottenham defender in action for Argentina at the World Cup this summer.

With the signings of Jan Paul van Hecke and Marcos Senesi, Tottenham have bolstered their defensive options and Romero's departure looks all but assured. Where he ends up will continue to be a subject of speculation, though, until he agrees terms with Inter or any of the other clubs interested in him.

Yesterday, we reported that Chelsea were 9/43.25 to bring him across town to west London and that remains the case. The Blues play Tottenham in a friendly today.

Newcastle's Guimaraes edges closer to Arsenal move

A big week for Newcastle, which saw Eddie Howe depart as head coach and the club shorten to 12/113.00 for relegation, continued as Bruno Guimarães' proposed transfer to Arsenal looked increasingly likely.

The midfielder is believed to be in Brazil and has not join the Magpies squad on their pre-season trip to Spain.

The Premier League champions are keen to add him to their ranks and will reportedly get the deal done if they offer the St James' Park club around £75m.

31 July - Spence 3/1 to join Inter as De Zerbi tells England star to stay at Spurs

Hero of the Azteca, Three Lions World Cup breakout star or England's flying full-back - whatever you want to call him, Djed Spence has already had a summer to remember and it could get even more eventful if top Premier League and European clubs move for him in the transfer window.

First things first, the 25-year-old is 8/111.73 to stay at Tottenham and Roberto De Zerbi has told the defender, who signed a long term contract last year, to stay put in north London.

But Spence may yet be tempted to moved as he faces a tough challenge to dislodge World Cup winner Pedro Porro from the right-back slot. Spence was an asset for England in defence and bursting forward - attributes which will not be lost on potential suitors.

Inter Milan, who this week snapped up free agent John Stones, are 3/14.00 to sign Spence. Everton are 10/34.33 while Manchester United, who have struggled in both full-back positions, may be attracted by Spence's versatility.

He's 5/16.00 to make the move to Old Trafford. If he fancies signing for a north west club but doesn't wish to play under Michael Carrick or David Moyes, Spence to Liverpool is 8/19.00.

31 July 09:30 - Chelsea 9/4 to sign Spurs captain

Chelsea are 9/43.25 to sign Tottenham captain Cristian Romero who has been srongly linked with Inter Milan.

The Argentinian defender is still 10/111.91 to join Inter - out from 8/151.53 earlier this week - but the west London club have emerged as contenders as they try to add experience to their squad.

With Romero's international teammate Enzo Fernandez 4/91.44 to stay at Chelsea beyond this window, the Blues could have a feisty look to their line-up if they do sign the Argentine defender. Fernandez was sent off in the World Cup final, as Argentina disgraced themselves in defeat to Spain, while Romero served suspensions four times last season as Spurs battled relegation.

Tottenham have already brought in Sando Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, for a combined fee of around £185m, but manager Roberto De Zerbi has been talking up the prospect of more signings.

He said last night that another transfer "bomba" was imminent and proclaimed himself "like a shark" when it came to getting the players he wanted in the market.

England star Marcus Rashford is a possible target for Tottenham, as they aim to bring in a forward, but at 13/27.50 it would be a surprise if he did head to north London.

27 July - Gunners 3/1 to sign Brazil star

Arsenal are 3/14.00 to complete the most audacious signing of the summer after Real Madrid said they wanted £137m for Vinicius Junior.

The Brazilian has one year left on his contract at the Bernabeu and, with Jose Mourinho returning to take charge of the team, there were rumous that Vinicius Junior could look to leave.

Reports today, however, said that Arsenal have not entered into talks for the player whose priority is to sign a new deal at the Spanish club.

He is 2/71.29 to stay beyond the current transfer window.

Mikel Arteta is keen, though, on landing one of the hottest properties in world football and Arsenal are prepared to offer the player the biggest contract in their history.

A busy summer at the Emirates has also seen the Premier League champions heavily linked with Newcastle's Bruno Guimaraes - a potential transfer Alan Shearer discussed in his latest Betfair column.

Reports today said the Gunners were accelerating talks over signing the midfielder.

Gunners explorting all options to sign Brazilian star

Arsenal are 5/23.50 to sign Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior after reports emerged on Saturday that the club are exploring all options in an attempt to bring the Brazilian superstar to North London.

Mikel Arteta is looking to strengthen the left side of his attack following the departure of Leandro Trossard, and Vinicius Junior would not only do that, but he would also be a huge coup for the Premier League champions.

Vini Jr has just one year remaining on his current contract, and if a new deal can't be agreed during the summer then Real Madrid maybe open to selling one of their star players instead of risking losing him on a free transfer at the end of the season.

25 July - Newcastle favourites to sign Bergvall

Magpies and Forest lead the race to sign Spurs midfieler

Newcastle United are the red hot favourites at 3/101.30 to sign Lucas Bergvall, who has seemingly fallen out of favour at Tottenham.

Speaking before his team's pre-season friendly against New Zealand side Auckland FC, Spurs boss Roberto de Zerbi, when discussing Bergvall, said , "I was very clear at the start of my time in Tottenham. I said, who doesn't want to stay in Tottenham? Who is not happy, is not proud to stay here, has to leave."

Bergvall started just one of Totenham's seven games at the end of last season under new boss De Zerbi and they've already splashed out around £185m on midfielders Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali, suggesting the exit door is firmly open should Bergvall want to leave.

Nottingham Forest are also reportedly interesting in signing the 20-year-old Swedish midfielder, and they are 9/43.25 on the Betfair Sportsbook to have him at the City Ground before the transfer window closes.

24 July - Real Madrid favourites to sign Rodri

Mourinho eyes Spanish star as his re-build continues

Real Madrid are 8/111.73 on the Betfair Sportsbook to sign Manchester City midfielder and World Cup Golden Ball winner Rodri.

He is 1/12.00 to remain a Man City player at the end of the transfer window with the club keen to extend his current contract, which has just one year remaining.

Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is intent on re-building Real Madrid and has already added a trio of defenders to his squad, including Rodri's World Cup-winning teammate Marc Cucerella. And now he seems intent on strengthening his midfield, and following the signing of ex Man City star Bernardo Silva it appears that Rodri is now his top target.

Should City get an inclination that Rodri is unlikely to sign a contract extension, they may decide to cash in on him now rather than risk losing him for free at the end of the season.

Rodri meanwhile is unlikely to be fit for the start of the upcoming season regardless of who he is playing for as he is set to undergo minor back surgery that could keep him out for up to six weeks.

London clubs reportedly vying for England international

Chelsea are favourites to sign John Stones this summer although they face competition from London rivals Arsenal.

The latest odds on the Betfair Sportsbook show Chelsea as the [11/10] favourites to be Stones' next club with the Gunners [4/1]. Everton split the duo at [6/4].

Stones is a free agent after his contract at Manchester City came to an end.

Arsenal have injury concerns in defence with William Saliba set for a spell on the sidelines.

22 July - Will Rashford stay or go?

Europe's biggest clubs in the frame for England forward

The BBC reports today that Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal are all keen to take the England forward.

Of those three clubs it is Spurs who the Betfair Sportsbook make the likeliest destination, the north London club [9/2] ahead of [10/1] Arsenal and [12/1] Chelsea.

Other options including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and a return to Barcelona are all shorter prices than Arsenal and Chelsea.

Spurs business goes on - who will they sign next?

Tottenham have been the club setting the pace in the Premier League summer transfer window.

The eyecatching captures of Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jean Paul van Hecke, plus a suite of free signings, has been accompanied by outgoings too, the most notable being Luka Vuskovic to Brighton for £50m. Today's transfer talk suggests Will Lankshear, who scored 12 on loan for Oxford United last season, will head to Middlesbrough for a sum that could reach £20m.

And the north London club are linked to a host of names in Betfair's transfer betting. Eli Junior Kroupi is 4/51.80 to play in Lilywhite next season.

Another Bournemouth player making the transfer headlines is Alex Scott, who has reportedly refused to sign a new contract.

The big Premier League names are all prominent in the betting to sign Scott, who enjoyed a breakout season in the top-flight last time out.

3 July - World Cup breakout stars on clubs' radars

Ayyoub Bouaddi

The Lille midfielder has caught the eye with his performances for Morocco at the World Cup and, with Canada up next, the North Africans will fancy their chances of going further.

At just 18, Bouaddi could be both a long term investment and a player capable of making an impact immediately. It's no surprise that Premier League clubs are interested with Man City 6/42.50 and Arsenal [6/4] the current joint favourites but Man Utd 9/25.50 are on the lookout for a midfielder and have been linked by reports.

Johan Manzambi

Another young midfielder who's impressing in North America for his country, this Swiss 20-year-old currently plays for Freibrug in the Bundesliga. He may not be there for long, however, after Manzambi's brilliant performance in his country's 2-0 win over Algeria in the round of 32 in addition to the three goals he scored during the group stage.

Newcastle 4/91.44 are reportedly trying to wrap up a deal for Manzambi. The Magpies have sold Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali already this summer, so have cash to spend.

Folarin Balogun

The USA forward scored his third goal of the tournament and received a red card in his country's round of 32 win over Bosnia. They'll have to do without him in the next round against Belgium, so maybe he'll be able to ponder his future while he sits out that one.

Dortmund are 15/82.88 to sign Balogun from Monaco but Chelsea 10/34.33, never shy of making an impulsive acquisition, could be an option if Balogun doesn't mind not playing in Europe in 2026/27 (the Blues finished 10th last season).
