Next Premier League Manager to Leave: Arbeloa 3/1 and De Zerbi 5/1 after poor starts

7 September - Winless pair Arbeloa and De Zerbi lead Betfair manager market

Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa is the 3/14.00 favourite in the Betfair Sportsbook next top flight manager to leave market after Fulham suffered their third consecutive Premier League defeat of the season.

The Cottagers were winning 2-1 before Crystal Palace mounted a comeback to make it three played and three lost for new Fulham boss Arbeloa. A period of stability and success under Marco Silva is well and truly over at Craven Cottage and Fulham are in to 9/43.25 to be relegated this season.

Things aren't much better in north London where Tottenham have one point from three and are yet to score in the Premier League this season.

Manager Roberto De Zerbi is 5/16.00 second favourite in the Betfair Sportsbook. The Italian may have some credit in the bank with the Spurs board after saving them from relegation last season.

The poor run can't continue for long, however, and the Italian needs to his Tottenham team to start scoring and winning - ideally when they host Everton this weekend.

On the Betfair Sportsbook, Spurs are 5/23.50 to turn their season around and finish in the top six.

25 August - Emery to leave Villa shortens to 15/2

The odds on Unai Emery leaving Aston Villa continued to shorten, reaching 15/28.50 on the Betfair Sportsbook, as the club's tumultuous summer continued.

Yesterday saw a big move on Emery in the Next Premier League Manager to Leave market, with the Spaniard shortening from 50/151.00 to 12/113.00.

Key players have left Villa, including Morgan Rogers and Ezri Konsa, and striker Ollie Watkins could be the next to go and Emiliano Martinez could join him.

Emery was expected to rebuild Villa this season but Sunday's defeat at Brighton left the Spaniard's team looking ill-prepared for the 2026/27 season.

The market has a new favourite, meanwhile, with Fulham boss Alvaro Arbeloa in to 9/25.50 following his club's defeat to Chelsea last night.

24 August - Betfair Sportsbook sees big move on Emery to leave Aston Villa

There was a big move on Unai Emery to leave Aston Villa as he shortened from 50/151.00 to 12/113.00 on the Betfair Sportsbook following his team's defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Villa made the worst possible start to the Premier League season on Sunday as The Seagulls slaughtered them 4-0.

It was damage limitation for Villa with just 31 minutes gone, as Brighton fired in four early goals and new signing João Gomes was sent off after 40 minutes.

Villa won the Europa League and finished fourth in the top flight last season, making 2025/26 their best campaign since they won the European Cup in 1982.

Three months on from their glorious Europa League final in Istanbul, they look a shadow of their former-selves and are 20/121.00 to finish in the top four in 2026/27.

Key players have departed this summer, with Morgan Rogers, Ezri Konsa and Youri Tielemans leaving.

There could be more sales to come with Ollie Watkins linked with a move to Saudi Arabia. Emery didn't rule out the England forward's departure when asked why he wasn't in the squad on Sunday.

Carrick favourite to be first manager to leave

For all that Emery has been backed to make a shock exit from Villa Park, the favourite to be the first manager to leave is Michael Carrick.

The Manchester United boss is 6/17.00 after his team were stunned by Hill City, losing 2-0 to the promoted Tigers.

Carrick's side looked unprepared for the season as Hull took them by surprise, scoring two first-half goals.

He got the job permamently at the end of last season after taking over in January when Ruben Amorim was sacked. Carrick impressed in the caretaker role but in 2026/27 United face a more demanding schedule and the manager will be tested.

If he does go, Eddie Howe is the favourite to replace him. The former-Newcastle boss, who left St James' Park in the summer, is 2/13.00 to be next in the Old Trafford hotseat.

Frank Lampard is 7/18.00 in the market after his Coventry team got a reality check when losing 3-0 to Arsenal on Friday.

Sergej Jakirović, the Hull boss who outwitted Carrick on Saturday, is also 7/18.00, while Roberto De Zerbi, who watched Tottenham lose 3-0 at Brentford, is 17/29.50.
