Manchester United have reportedly decided to sack Erik ten Hag after the FA Cup final and Mauricio Pochettino is the favourite to succeed him at Old Trafford...

  • United to sack Ten Hag regardless of FA Cup final

  • 6/52.20 Pochettino favourite to get Old Trafford job

  • McKenna, De Zerbi and Tuchel also contenders

Mauricio Pochettino is the favourite to be the next manager Manchester United on the Betfair Sportsbook following reports that they will sack Erik ten Hag after tomorrow's FA Cup final.

The Red Devils will try to salvage silverware from the wreckage of a miserable season when they take on Manchester City at Wembley. But win or lose, it will not be enough to keep the Red Devils' beleaguered Dutch boss in a job.

That's according to a Guardian exclusive that broke on Friday afternoon and claimed to have come from a well-placed source at the club.

Poch favourite to be next Man U boss

Pochettino left Chelsea on Monday and is 6/52.20 to make a swift return to the game in the Old Trafford hot-seat. He was interviewed for the United job two years ago before the club hired Ten Hag instead.

The ex-Ajax manager impressed during his first season, finishing third in the Premier League and winning the EFL Cup. But results have been disappointing in 2023/24 as United finished eighth - their worst league position since 1990 - and ended with a negative goal difference.

Kieran McKenna 7/24.50 follows Pochettino in the betting. The 38-year-old worked as United coach under Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick before departing to manage Ipswich. He got them to the Premier League this season with consecutive promotions from League 1 and the Championship.

McKenna is believed to be of interest to Chelsea and Brighton, as they search for new managers, but the chance to return to Old Trafford for the manager's job may prove too tempting to resist if United come calling.

Roberto De Zerbi 9/25.50 is another believed to be on the shortlist drawn up by Jim Ratcliffe and his team, who run United's football operations, and so is Thomas Tuchel 11/26.50.

The German won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021 after taking over in January. His ability to get a talented but disjointed squad working in harmony may appeal to Ratcliffe and co.

Then there is Gareth Southgate 7/18.00 whose focus is firmly on managing England at Euro 2024 but who could step down after the tournament.

The United owners have been impressed by his work with England over the past seven years.

If the news about Ten Hag proves to be accurate, there will be intense speculation about his replacement until United have a new manager in place. Read Betting.Betfair for all the latest news about the betting.
