Kevin Hatchard

About

If it wasn't for football, Kevin would have to go and get a proper job. He has written for betting.betfair.com for over a decade, and has covered the Premier League, Bundesliga, Champions League and Europa League. He has also written columns for the site on World Cups, European Championships and - of course - the Eurovision Song Contest.

He has been a sports journalist for 20 years, and is currently a TV commentator for the Bundesliga's world feed, as well as a pundit and radio commentator for UEFA, talkSPORT and Amazon.

In the infancy of his career he spent several seasons travelling the length and breadth of the country as a football and cricket commentator for BBC Radio Gloucestershire. As a result he is no stranger to glamour, having covered games at Matlock Town and Highworth Town (at the latter game he had to fetch the ball during a report).

Much to his wife’s annoyance Kevin will watch most sports, and no football is too obscure to pique his interest (Finnish Ykkonen, anyone?) His enthusiasm for German football began with the day-glo clad Borussia Dortmund side which conquered Europe in 1997, and it was reinforced by the whole-hearted displays of Karlheinz Riedle for his beloved Liverpool.

Kevin’s betting career has had highs and lows. His exploits on the blackjack tables of Las Vegas are perhaps best forgotten, but backing Senegal to beat France 1-0 in the opening match of the 2002 World Cup still produces a smug smile.

You can regularly see Kevin's betting thoughts delivered and obscure T-shirts proudly displayed on the weekly Football...Only Bettor podcast.
