Stuart Broad was backed in to 6/42.50 to win the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year after he ended his Test career by taking the final wicket in England's victory over Australia.

Ben Stokes' team levelled the series on a thrilling final day at the Oval and Broad, who announced his intention to retire at the match's conclusion, got the ending he wanted.

The 37-year-old was applauded by his team-mates after a 15 year career that included 604 Test wickets.

His performance captured the imagination of fans, so punters backed him to win the BBC's end of year award. No other cricketer has ever hit their last ever ball for six with the bat, and taken a wicket with their last ever delivery.

Captain Ben Stokes is 12/113.00 and, would have been shorter had England managed to win the series. As it is, he is an outsider.

Dettori overtake but not out of race

Frankie Dettori 10/34.33 has been pushed into second in the market by Broad.

He was beaten to the Leading Jockey prize at Royal Ascot in June by Betfair ambassador Ryan Moore but Dettori still enjoyed a great week, riding four winners.
