Next Liverpool Manager: Is Jurgen Klopp set for sensational Anfield stay?

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp
Would Jurgen Klopp be tempted to stay and win more trophies at Liverpool

Liverpool have reportedly agreed a deal with Feyenoord for Arne Slot to become thier new manager, but who would they turn to if talks hit a stumbling block? Their current manager of course...

  • Klopp 14/115.00 to be Reds boss at start of next season

  • Betting suspended on Arne Slot becoming Liverpool manager

  • Would Klopp reconsider if talks with Slot breakdown

Jurgen Klopp is very unlikely to be Liverpool's manager at the start of next season. But he might be!

The Betfair Sportsbook has the current Reds boss at 14/115.00 to be the Liverpool manager on the first day of the 2024/25 Premier League season.

For that to happen Klopp would have to announce a sensational u-turn after revealing in January that he would be leaving the club at the end of this season.

Sorry end to season could trigger a re-think

Liverpool's end to the current campaign has been far from what Klopp would have anticipated when announcing his decision to resign.

At the time the Reds were still in the hunt for four trophies, and although they won the EFL Cup in February, defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup, a sorry loss to Atalanta in the Europa League, and a poor run of league form means that Liverpool's trophy hunt is all but over for another season.

The Reds aren't mathematically out of the title race, but their price of 55/156.00 in the Premier League Winner market tells you the enormity of their task.

Does Klopp really want to leave Liverpool after such a disappointing end to the campaign? Could he be persuaded to have a re-think?

Arne ready to Slot into Anfield hotseat

A re-think by Klopp perhaps relies on a breakdown in talks between Liverpool and Feyenoord boss Arne Slot, who was as short at 1/121.08 to become the Reds next manager before betting was suspended on Friday night.

Reports on Saturday morning state that Liverpool have agreed a £9.4m deal with the Dutch club to get Slot out of his current contract, so it would seem that only personal terms now need to be agreed.

But should talks between the two parties not go well then the Reds might have no option but to politely ask Klopp if he wants to stay on for another season at least.

Now wouldn't that be something!
