Leg 1 - Max Aarons to be booked
Bournemouth defender, Max Aarons, has become a regular feature at right-back for The Cherries after completing his switch from Norwich in the summer. In his 11 Premier League appearances this season he has been carded just once, despite a career of being a regular receiver of the yellow card.
Surprisingly, Aarons is fouled more often than he commits fouls but is always in the thick of the action. Aarons is fouled 2.24 times per game and has committed just shy of one on average this season. It is likely that Aarons will be up against the very tricky and in form Anthony Gordon for Newcastle who will return to the line-up one week on from his winner against Arsenal, and after being rested in Newcastle's midweek defeat against Dortmund in the Champions League.
Gordon also commits over one foul per game and is fouled over two times per game on average, so this makes for a very interesting matchup on Saturday evening.
Bournemouth are seemingly in trouble and have been drawn into another relegation battle. Newcastle are without many players due to injuries and the Cherries will fancy themselves to get something here against a possibly leggy Newcastle side. We should see Aarons pressing high up the pitch but can't afford to give Gordon too much space on the counterattack.
Leg 2 - Joelinton to be booked
Joelinton is no stranger to the referee's book, picking up a huge 12 bookings in just 32 Premier League appearances last season. We felt Joelinton was very lucky to avoid a card in last week's win over Arsenal. The Brazilian has picked up a card roughly one in four throughout his entire career and this season just has the one yellow to his name in eight appearacnes, so maybe he's due one if the law of averages is anything to go by.
Joelinton commits over two fouls per game on average and receives just over one foul on average over the previous two seasons. He does however enter an average of 15 duels per game both aerially and on the ground and always seems one foul away from receiving a card, often having quiet chats and receiving warnings from the man in the middle.
Joelinton may be called upon here many times with Newcastle missing many key men, his leadership will be vital to coming away with a win here to keep the pressure on the Champions League places.
The match official - Chris Kavanagh
The man in officiating Saturday Evenings match up is Chris Kavanagh. Kavanagh has only refereed four Premier League games so far this season, where he has shown an average of 4.5 cards and awarded an average of 22 fouls per game, and is yet to show a red card.
The sides here have an average of 4.7 fouls per game which is slightly below the leagues average, but with so much at stake here in the relegation battle and the Champions League race, we can see an eventful game with many fouls, cards and altercations.
