Time's running out

Celtic enjoy the home advantage as they head into round four of their UEFA Champions League Group F campaign.

Old Firm rivals Rangers host English Premier League giants Liverpool 24 hours after the arrival of the German Bundesliga outfit. The city of Glasgow prepares for a memorable few days.

Ange Postecoglou's Scottish champions head into this contest knowing it's an all-or-nothing scenario. Defeat in this home match would cast the Bhoys adrift at the bottom of the pool with little chance of securing their passage to knockout football.

A draw may keep them in it, while victory would thrust Celtic into the mix for qualification. Another huge European night awaits at Parkhead.

Celts start bottom of the pool

Celtic move into the second half of their return to Champions League group football stuck at the bottom of the pool and in danger of sinking without a trace.

They've managed to secure just one of the nine points available, thanks to a draw achieved in Ukraine.

The Celts opened the scoring against Shakhtar Donetsk last month through Reo Hatate on 10 minutes, but a stunning finish from Mykhaylo Mudryk restored parity in Warsaw.

It was the best performance we've seen from Celtic away from home in this competition for many years, but fans will remember it as a night their favourites missed a great chance to win.

Bulls raged in Leipzig

Red Bull Leipzig was stuck to the foot of the table following back-to-back defeats in their opening two matches.

That was until Celtic came calling, and the Germans bagged their first win of the campaign courtesy of an impressive 3-1 result. A scoreline that certainly didn't flatter the Bulls, who even had a goal disallowed by VAR.

Andre Silva hit a double after Christopher Nkunku had put RB ahead inside 30 minutes. Jota hit a reply for the Scots, but it was to prove nothing more than a consolation goal, and there could be no doubt the better team won.

RB Leipzig will fancy more of the same in Glasgow, but the visitors don't have happy memories of the city, having been knocked out of the Europa League by Rangers last season.

Hosts must improve

Celtic held their own for large parts of the game in Germany last week, but they were beaten by the side yet to hit top gear. Postecoglou's men must improve, especially if they are to stop their opponents from winning and pulling clear.

The hosts struggled again at the weekend, needing a stoppage-time goal to beat lowly St Johnstone, and that helps explain why Celtic can be backed at 3.39/4.

The draw trades at 3.953/1, which wouldn't be the worst result for either side. Fancy the Germans doing the double over the Scots? Back RB Leipzig at odds of 2.226/5.

Looking through the stats associated with these teams, we note both sides have already conceded seven goals in three games. Over 2.5 goals in this match is 1.695/7, or you can follow last week's example and back both teams to score in this game at 1.68/13.
