Rangers v Celtic Tips: Back Andy Robson's 5/1 Old Firm Bet Builder on Sunday

Can Philippe Clement's Rangers beat Celtic at Ibrox on Sunday?

With Celtic just one point ahead of Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership this Sunday's Old Firm derby is a massive game. Get Andy Robson's Bet Builder for the Ibrox showdown...

Rangers' decision to part company with Mick Beale and appoint Phillipe Clement has been a success. It was an understandable decision to try Beale, given the relative success of the Steven Gerrard era, but it must've been a real eye-opener for the Rangers board how much football in Scotland had moved on in such a short period.

A large part of that was down to Ange-ball. Ange Postecoglou's impact isn't just seen at Celtic, it can be attributed to the top of Scottish football in general. It has also been part of the reason why, although performance data is still strong, Brendan Rodgers' Celtic haven't been anywhere near as popular as they were his first stint at the club.

There is still time for everything to come together into a successful season for the Bhoys though. A League and Cup double is possible for Celtic, as it is for Rangers, and both teams have it within their own hands to decide their fate.

So, who will come out on top in Glasgow on Sunday? Let's have a look as we create a 5/16.00 Bet Builder for Betfair.

Leg 1 - Back Rangers double chance

Celtic have been the more offensively creative of the two teams this season, creating a greater quantity and quality of chances, and as a result scoring more goals.

However, since the turn of the year, it is Rangers with the higher xG and goal tally, perhaps showing that Clement has got a tune out of Rangers that others haven't been capable of.

Rangers seem to have risen to the challenge as their improvement has seen them match Celtic's attacking output, albeit the defensive records have also become quite similar.

Judging by the matches between themselves, it is Celtic with the bragging rights so far. Indeed, Celtic have enjoyed a fair level of dominance in this rivalry for some time now.

There have been eight meetings since the beginning of last season, Rangers have won only one, with Celtic winning six.

However, Rangers' improvement should not be underestimated, and Clement will not care about recent history when preparing for this match.

Leg 2 - Back Cyriel Dessers 1+ shots on target

Looking at the shots market, I quite like the idea of Matt O'Riley hitting the target as he is still averaging over one shot on target per 90. O'Riley is a great player with an eye for a strike and the ability to find space.

Rangers' Cyriel Dessers, though, is the one for me for our Bet Builder. Dessers, hits over two shots on target per 90. This is more than anyone else over what is now a sustained period of time, and whilst others may look to players such as Kyogo in this market, I am happy to opt for Dessers this weekend.

Leg 3 - Back John Lundstram to be carded

Reo Hatate's return to the Celtic team really does add something and, in this case, I am hopeful that it might add a yellow card to proceedings for Rangers.

The Japanese midfielder is very effective around the pitch, but in the hustle and bustle of the Old Firm, that can be troublesome as well. He is set to be in a proper battle with John Lundstram on Sunday.

The Englishman always epitomises that same side of the game to me; he works hard, is box-to-box, and, now, into his 30s, has that streetwise side to his game.

He is always one to watch out for in the big games, either for a goal or a card, as was seen in Europe for Rangers. This market is also available for this game if you are tempted to go that way, but I am happy with the card price alone here.

Leg 4 - Back Greg Taylor to commit 1+ foul

Unsurprisingly, the bookmakers seem to have shortened up a lot of their usual prices for fouls heading into the Old Firm.

However, if Todd Cantwell starts then he could be key to finding some value. The former Norwich man has the tendency to float around the pitch but, often, he is by far the most fouled player on the pitch.

Greg Taylor could be one player to find himself in direct opposition and, although the full back averages less than a foul a game, that goes out of the window a little in the Old Firm.

If Cantwell gets the chance to face up to Taylor, he will go at him, and I expect the Celtic full-back to struggle at times with his opponent's direct running.
