Premier League Tips & Predictions
12:30 - West Ham v Manchester United: Oppose goals and support Christmas cards
Mark O'Haire: "West Ham have made impressive progress through the Europa League and come into Saturday's clash just one point behind Manchester United and two shy of the top-six. David Moyes' men boast an impressive W4-D1-L1 recent Premier League record and have only twice tasted defeat at the London Stadium this season in league action (W4-D2-L2).
"But the Hammers have undoubtedly been hampered by the schedulers. The Irons face a very quick turnaround from their EFL Cup quarter-final clash at Liverpool on Wednesday night ahead of an early Saturday kick-off here, which should give Manchester United an advantage, especially with the visitors welcoming back a couple of key cogs.
"Man Utd aren't always the most trustworthy away team to follow under Erik ten Hag, although the Red Devils arrive with the joint-best top-flight defensive record on their travels despite already facing four of the top-six. That solid base should give the fresher guests an opportunity to at least stake a claim of the spoils on Saturday afternoon."
15:00 - Tottenham v Everton: Back Spurs to edge it
Dimitar Berbatov: "Sean Dyche is great, I love him! But Spurs are on a roll and, before they lose Son Heaung-min to the AFC Asian Cup in January, they need to take full advantage of his role in the team.
"Richarlison will need to step up even more when Son is not there and fortunately the Brazilian is scoring goals. Spurs need to win to stay close to the top four, so I will go for them."
15:00 - Luton v Newcastle: Back second-half goals
Stephen Tudor: "Eddie Howe's side are in for a tough afternoon, exacerbated by poor away form that has garnered just five points to date. A cruel succession of injuries hasn't exactly helped and Champions League distractions have been a factor too, but excuses only go so far for a side with genuine top four aspirations.
"The form of Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon - the latter averaging 2.2 shots per game - sways us towards a tight away win but with no great confidence. It should be noted that nine of Newcastle's last 10 league goals have come in the second period, while 61% of Luton's goals have been converted beyond the 65th minute."
15:00 - Fulham v Burnley: Back goals at the Cottage
Alex Boyes: "Fulham have won 5-0 in their last two Premier League home games (against Nottingham Forest and West Ham). There have been three instances in the competition's history of a team winning by 5+ goals in three in a row at home - Chelsea (April-August 2010), Manchester City (September-October 2017) and Man City again (May-August 2021).
"Indeed, Fulham's four Premier League games in December have seen 20 goals scored (13 for, 7 against), more than any other side. Their 13 goals scored is already the most the Cottagers have netted in a single month in the top-flight since December 1966 (16)."
17:30 - Liverpool v Arsenal: How to back 6/1 Bet Builder
Tom Victor: "While left-sided stars Martinelli and Diaz could have a part to play, Liverpool's success could hinge on whether top scorer Mohamed Salah can get back among the goals after failing to net against Manchester United but responding against West Ham.
"Although Arsenal's defensive strength is apparent, they're likely to be able to line up with a solid backline without it limiting their efforts in attack - unlike Manchester United last weekend.
"Salah's price to score anytime of 13/8 is much bigger than the 4/5 he was last week vs Manchester United, and whilst we would expect a better price against a better defensive side, the difference is of note.
"We have our eye on the Bet Builder market for this game. Salah to score at any time, with both teams to score in the first half, can be backed at just under 6/1."
EFL Football Tips & Predictions
12:30 - Leeds v Ipswich: Take Tractor Boys to avoid defeat
Mark O'Haire: "Leeds' seven-match Elland Road winning streak in the Championship was ended last weekend but the Whites are odds-on favourites to get back on track in Saturday's eye-catching clash between the two promotion contenders. Daniel Farke's hosts are rated as the top home team in the division, leading the league in home Expected Points (xP) and xG.
"However, Ipswich are bound to test Leeds' credentials. The visitors have suffered only two league defeats since promotion, returning a remarkable (W16-D4-L2) across their opening 21 tussles. One of those defeats arrived in the reverse clash at Portman Road, although Town were rightly aggrieved with that loss having largely dominated that August encounter."
15:00 - Sheff Wed v Cardiff: Back Owls to beat Bluebirds
Jack Critchley: "Cardiff have picked up just seven points in their last eight league games (W2 D1 L5) - in their eight games before this run, they won 16 points (W5 D1 L2).
"Across the course of the season, Sheffield Wednesday have averaged just 0.91 goals per game at Hillsborough, however, they've recently improved their output and have found the net on five occasions across their last two matches here. They've netted in four of their last five home matches and have won three of their last four. Danny Ruhl has done a magnificent job since arriving in South Yorkshire and the German boss has lifted the Owls off the foot of the table.
"Cardiff's solid start to the season feels like a thing of the past with the Bluebirds struggling for form heading into the festive period. They've failed to score in three of their last four outings and they were exceptionally poor against Hull at the MKM last weekend."
European Football Tips & Predictions
11:30 Serie A - Frosinone v Juventus: Back leaky visitors
Dan Fitch: "Juventus will be looking to get back to winning ways when they visit Frosinone.
"The Old Lady dropped points last weekend with a 1-1 draw at Genoa. That leaves Juventus four points behind the Serie A leaders Inter, in second place. Defensive improvement is needed. After a watertight run in which Juve kept six consecutive clean sheets, they have now conceded in four of their last five games.
"Frosinone are without a win in three Serie A games (D1 L2), but enjoyed a 4-0 victory away at Napoli in the Coppa Italia in midweek. Despite that result, Juventus should win this one and with their poor defensive record, it's worth backing the away victory and both teams to score at 11/4."
