India face Australia in a one-off T20 ahead of their ODI series on Thursday and Ed Hawkins says that the visitors' poor form in the format will see them come unstuck in Rajkot

"Just the one ODI has been played in Rajkot and the wicket looked to be a belter when England, scoring 325, won by nine runs"

Recommended bet
India to score more than 160 if they bat first at around 1.804/5

India v Australia
Start time: 15:00 BST
TV: live on Sky Sports 2

India
The most notable inclusion in India's squad is Yuvraj Singh. Yuvraj, who battled cancer, has been spending time in France to get himself fully fit and reports that he is in good order. His form for India A against West Indies A last month was superb with two half-centuries and a ton. MS Dhoni will lead the side. Other match-winners include Shikhar Dhawan, Ravi Jadeja, Ravi Ashwin, Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina. Vinay Kumar, Bhuv Kumar and Ishant Sharma will most likely form a three-man pace attack. India have picked two specialist spinners in Amit Mishra and Ashwin.

Australia
George Bailey will lead Australia in the absence of Michael Clarke, whose chronic back problem has made him a doubt for the Ashes. Nic Maddinson and Callum Ferguson are Clarke's replacements. The free-swinging opener is just 21 but impressed for Australia A when touring England this summer. Ferguson scored 271 runs at an average of 45 and strike rate of 71 in the domestic Ryobi Cup. Australia will rely heavily on Shane Watson and Mitchell Johnson, who have been advising the squad on current India conditions following their experience in the Champions League.

First-innings runs
Just the one ODI has been played in Rajkot and the wicket looked to be a belter when England, scoring 325, won by nine runs. We would be confident of India posting more than 160 with their potentially explosive batting order. Look for around 1.804/5.

Match odds
According to the ICC's T20 rankings, this is not the heavyweight contest one assumes. India are rated the third-best side in the world while Australia are way down in seventh. The hosts are in better shape all round, winning four of their last six. Australia have lost six of their last seven but they have won four of the seven meetings between the sides. The 1.618/13 about India is a little short for us, even though we believe Dhoni's men will triumph. There is enough ability in the Australia camp for them to trade at odds-on, however. Aaron Finch's ability to blast the ball to all parts stands out. They are minus David Warner, though, who is their second highest rungetter in the last two years. Their top man is Shane Watson. He is also their top wicket-taker over the same period. And there's the rub. Watson has been on the road all year and must be exhausted. His form has suffered, too and he really wasn't much use for Rajasthan in the Champions League. Clint McKay is a good operator with the ball and could do some damage but, again, Australia are minus Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins who have impressed in this format. We would be looking for good, early beginnings with bat or ball for Australia to get their price down. But expect Indian class to tell.

Top India runscorer
Yuvraj and Raina have ground form. They both hit half-centuries in that match against England in Rajkot in January. They are 7.6013/2 and 6.205/1 respectively. Kohli, who is 4.507/2 is India's top runscorer in T20 over the last two years with 468 runs. He will most likely open with Dhawan, who is jolly at 4.407/2. Dhoni, India's fourth highest runscorer over the study period (Raina is third behind Gautam Gambhir), is 7.4013/2.

Top Australia runscorer
Watson is the 4.003/1 favourite but his recent run of low scores does not excite. Finch is 4.407/2. We would prefer a wager on middle-order reliability in the form of Adam Vogues and Bailey. They are 6.205/1 and 6.806/1 respectively. The best value, though, could be Maddinson who is priced at 7.006/1. Coach Darren Lehmann has said he could open with Finch.
