Drew Brees takes the saints to their first ever Superbowl
"What seems certain is that we will witness a high-scoring game - these two are among the league's highest scorers and while both offences are in the top ten (according to regular season stats) neither defence is rated better than 18th."
Both favourites came through their Conference championship games to reach Superbowl XLIV - and it's Manning's men who head the betting
With 12 days to go until the NFL's Floride finale, Indianapolis are the clear favourites to lift the trophy at the Miami showdown with New Orleans.
The early odds put Peyton Manning's men at [1.55] to emerge triumphant with the Saints available to back at [2.8].
Indianapolis, Superbowl champions in 2006, certainly had the easiest time of it in Sunday night's Conference deciders when beating New York Jets 30-17 at the Lucas Oil Stadium. And, of course, with Manning they have a living NFL legend leading the team.
But in Drew Brees, New Orleans have a deadly weapon of their own. The 31-year-old comes into the game fresh from a season of superlatives. Brees has thrown over 4,000 yards for the fourth consecutive season and posted a regular season rating of 109.8.
In truth, Brees did not shine during Sunday's 31-28 overtime win against Brett Favre's Minnesota Vikings but he did get his team into field goal range to set up the game's decisive score.
What seems certain is that we will witness a high-scoring game - these two are among the league's highest scorers and while both offences are in the top ten (according to regular season stats) neither defence is rated better than 18th.
