Friday 10 July - Betfair expert backs Haaland and Kane in 90/1 bet builder

You should back Erling Haaland and Harry Kane to light up tomorrow's World Cup quarter-final - that's the advice from match previewer Dave Tindall who has recommended a 90/191.00 big match bet builder here.

The tip is the latest from Betfair experts who have been making their predictions for the showdown in Miami. Here's the bet but read the preview to understand Dave's reasoning.

England are 20/231.87 to win in normal time and 4/91.44 to qualify for the semi-finals. For Norway, the respective prices are 16/54.20 and 15/82.88.

Latest reports, meanwhile, say England defender Marc Guehi is struggling for fitness and will be assessed today.

This comes as Jarell Quansah was given a two-match ban for his red card against Mexico.

Declan Rice missed training yesterday with a sickness bug for the second successive day. Norway are also said to be struggling with illness in their camp.

More postively for England, Reece James is back in full training and could play on Saturday.

Thursday 9 July - Shearer backing England's to reach final

England legend loved what he saw from the Three Lions in the early hours of Monday morning. It was a standout performance that has givem him belief.

In his latest column for Betfair, Shearer says: "That win gave me the belief and the hope that we've been looking for.

"Since the second half against Croatia, England were very bitty up until Mexico. There's always a performance in a tournament that makes you think: "Right, we could win this now." I still say France are favourites and I'm not changing my mind, but the performance against Mexico gave me great hope and belief that we can at least get to the final.

"They're going into the Norway game on the back of a monumental result, a heroic performance. So that in itself should give them huge belief, huge confidence because as we all know, confidence in football is massive."

Wednesday 8 July - Ste Tudor is predicting a highly entertaining game

The first of our main previews for Norway v England is in, and it's stats guru Ste Tudor picking out his best bets using the data that has been gathered in the five games prior to Saturday's huge quarter-finals clash.

Ste has a number of bets ranging from 5/42.25 about a first half Norwegian goal up to 20/121.00 for a Three Lions Bet Builder.

You can read his preview in full here, but below is just one of the bets Ste has put up.

Ste Tudor: It stands to reason that all five of Norway's fixtures have finished with both teams scoring.

Going forward, they possess trickery, guile and the most lethal finisher in world football. At the back, they can at times be close to shambolic.

Backing BTTS therefore is a great add to any builder.

In this instance, why not pair it up with a high corner-count, with Norway averaging a steady 4.4 per 90 across the Atlantic and England topping that significantly with 6.2.

It would be even higher from Tuchel's men if not for the context of their victory over Mexico.

Tuesday 7 July - England the best backed team to win the World Cup

England have been the best backed team to win the World Cup since their thrilling 3-2 win over Mexico in the early hours of Monday morning.

In the last 24 hours, the Three Lions - who can be backed at 5/16.00 to lift the Jules Rimet trophy - have had almost a third of all the Betfair Sportsbook's bets placed on them, and they've received more than double the number of bets placed on the likes of France, Spain and Argentina.

Interestingly, Norway - 16/117.00 to win the World Cup - are the third best backed team in the last 24 hours suggesting that punters firmly believe that whoever wins Saturday's huge quarter-final can go all the way.

Most bets taken in World Cup Winner market

(since England's 3-2 win over Mexico)

  • England - 30%
  • France - 13%
  • Norway - 12%
  • Spain - 10%
  • Morocco - 6%

Betfair Spokesperson James Mackie said: "It's genuinely coming home. Well, that is what Betfair punters believe as they're backing Harry Kane and England to lift the trophy.

"Tommy T's got the nation dreaming again. Nearly a third of all bets placed on the outright market since that heroic Mexico match have been on England. That's the kind of conviction you only see when a nation truly believes."

Tuesday 7 July - How to back Bellingham, Haaland and Kane

The Betfair Sportsbook odds on England beating Norway in normal time in Saturday's World Cup quarter-final shortened to 17/201.85 from yesterday's 9/101.90. They are 4/91.44 to qualify for the semi-finals.

Norway are 3/14.00 to win the match in 90 minutes and 17/102.70 to qualify from the tie.

The big news from the England camp is that Jordan Henderson has been ruled out of the tournament with the broken wrist he sustained during the celebrations at the Azteca Stadium.

After recovering from their Mexico City exploits, and travelling back to their base, England will today begin preparations for Saturday.

Haaland v Kane Bet Builders on Betfair

Betfair have launched feature bet builders for the match with the focus on Erling Haaland and Harry Kane.

Both players are Golden Boot contenders, with seven and six goals respectively, and are expected to play key roles on Saturday.

Kane to find the net in an England win and both teams to score is 3/14.00 on Betfair Sportsbook. That bet builder would've been a winner in both of England's knockout round matches so far.

Alternatively, Haaland to strike in a Norway victory and both teams to score is available at 6/17.00. Again, if you'd backed that outcome in Norway's last 32 and last 16 ties you would have been in the money.

Haaland and Bellingham reunion bet builders

We discussed yesterday (see below), Haaland's record against England's defenders, but the Manchester City striker and Jude Bellingham have plenty of history.

They got on famously as teammates at Borussia Dortmund but have since faced each other when City and Real Madrid met in the Champions League. The teams played each other three times in 2025/26, with Haaland scoring in two of those matches, ending up on the losing side twice and winning once.

The only one of the three matches that City won was also the only one in which Bellingham featured for Madrid. The previous season, however, Bellingham scored the winner for the Spanish club when they beat Haaland's City 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium. The Norwegian was on target too that night and you can get 17/29.50 on both players scoring on Saturday.

Bellingham to score in a 3-2 England win is 44/145.00.

Monday 6 July - England beat Mexico to book QF with Norway

England are 10/111.91 favourites on the Betfair Sportsbook to beat Norway inside 90 minutes in their World Cup quarter-final this Saturday.

Thomas Tuchel's team are 40/851.47 to qualify from the tie - including via extra-time and penalties - and reach the semi-finals.

The Three Lions came through an extraordinary last 16 tie against Mexico, winning 3-2 at the Azteca Stadium, hours after Norway beat Brazil 2-1 to reach the last eight.

Norway are 29/103.90 to win the match in 90 minutes and 13/82.63 to qualify from the tie.

Both sides have won both their knockout ties at the World Cup by single goal margins. England by one goal is 11/43.75 while you can get 9/25.50 on Norway edging it by a single strike.

Haaland and Kane set for Golden Boot showdown

The World Cup is witnessing one of its greatest ever Golden Boot races and two of the leading contenders will come face to face in Miami.

Erling Haaland scored both of his country's goals against Brazil and now has seven for the tournament. He is 6/1 to win the Golden Boot and will be Norway's biggest threat on Saturday.

A Haaland brace against England is 13/27.50.

Harry Kane is 9/1 to win the Golden Boot after making it six goals at the 2026 finals with his decisive penalty against Mexico.

The captain put in an epic shift in attack and defence before Tuchel brought him off as England, who were down to 10 men following Jarell Quansah's red card, threw on defenders to protect their lead. Presumably, Quansah will be suspended for Saturday's match, although at this World Cup you never know.

Kane is 1/12.00 to score on Saturday.

Saturday's quarter-final could be a decisive moment in the Golden Boot race, as whoever ends up on the winning team will have the advantage of playing in two more World Cup games (a semi-final and final or third-place play-off).

England know Haaland well but can they stop him?

England's defenders know all about Erling Haaland. John Stones, Marc Guehi and Nico O'Reilly are his Manchester City team-mates, while goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, centre-back Ezri Konsa have played against him in the Premier League over the last few seasons.

It is one thing knowing what the Norway hitman likes to do, however, and another thing stopping him.

Haaland v Konsa - history and stats

Konsa and his Aston Villa team-mates kept Haaland quiet at Villa Park earlier this season, with Unai Emery's men winning 1-0. The Norwegian missed Villa's win over City at the Etihad in May.

Haaland also failed to score in his one club outing against Konsa the previous season. In fact, the only occasion when Haaland has scored against Konsa and Villa was in a 1-1 draw in September 2022.

Haaland v Pickford - history and stats

For Jordan Pickford, the picture is not as rosey. Haaland scored three goals against the England number one across the two meetings between City and Everton in 2025/26.

In his City career, Haaland has scored past Pickford six times.

Haaland was jubilant after his country's win over Brazil, beating the drum for their rowing celebration and claiming it was one of Norway's greatest moments.

He is not the only Premier League star in the line-up, of course, with City's Oscar Bobb and Arsenal's Martin Odegaard also important for Norway's hopes of progressing.

We will have the key Opta stats, in-depth previews and the best bets from our experts in the build-up to another huge night.
