Grand Series of Poker

There is plenty of noise going around at the moment concerning the GSOP but what exactly is this GSOP they are talking about? The GSOP is an acronym for the Grand Series of Poker, a series of games hosted on the Ongame Network, an online poker festival if you will.

The upcoming GSOP, which will commence on February 27, will be the sixth edition of this fantastic series and it promises to be bigger and better than ever before, with $3,300,000 in prizes being guaranteed! The action kicks off at 2000 Central European Time on Sunday 27 February with the $190+$10 No Limit Hold'em Deepstack Event with a whopping guarantee of $400,000!

The following day sees $150,000 guaranteed for the $100+$8 No Limit Hold'em Rebuy Event with the needs of Omaha players being first taken care of on Wednesday 2 March when the $50+$4 Pot Limit Omaha Rebuy Event takes place with a $40,000 guarantee pinned to it. Two days later and there is a $50,000 guaranteed Pot Limit Omaha Event that commands a $190+$10 entry fee.

Bringing down the curtain on the series on March 13 is the $500+$25 Main Event that carries a $500,000 Guarantee but if of this talk of $100, $200 and $500 entry fees is too much for your bankroll to take then do not fret as there is also a Mini-GSOP running concurrently with the main GSOP! The events are identical with the exception of the buyins, which are a tenth of the size so the guarantees are also lower. Although the guarantees are lower they still represent great value as there is a $20+$2 tournament with a $40,000 guarantee and the $50+$4 Main Event will see those finishing in the money share no less than $100,000!

Although the GSOP and Mini-GSOP are going to be completed in 15 days, there is one extra tournament added to the end of the schedule dubbed the Grand Slam! Taking place on the March 20, a week after the GSOP finishes, the Grand Slam will be open to anyone who can put up the $4900+$100 required, comes at the top of the leaderboard or satellites in before the tournament gets underway. The $5000 GSOP Grand Slam has a $400,000 guarantee and was won last year by "poelsetyv" who walked away with $149,934.70! Keeping in line with the rest of the GSOP, the Mini-GSOP will also be running a Grand Slam but with a $500+$25 entry fee and a guarantee of $150,000.

Stay tuned for more information on the various promotions running around GSOP VI, including the chance to win a $100,000 sponsorship from Betfair Poker!
