GSOP 9 Event #7: Four Cards Are Better Than Two For KojG9

The seventh event of the Grand Series of Poker 9 (GSOP) switched back to Pot Limit Omaha and fans of the game with four-hole cards rejoiced as they were offered a $200 buy-in freezeout and a $22 buy-in tournament to choose from.

musbilen was one of 14 Team Betfair players to reach the money place, but was by far and away the player who went on the deepest run, his nearest teammate being strong doridoru in 42nd place.

GSOP 9 Event #7: $190+$10 Pot Limit Omaha $50,000 Guaranteed

The big buy-in GSOP event saw 417 players exchange $200 for the chance to become a GSOP champion and to win a slice of the $50,000 guaranteed prize pool; which was eventually pushed towards the $80,000 mark once registration had closed!

The huge prize pool meant each player who reached the final table walked away with a four-figure score, with the final two players upping that and taking home five-figures for an evening of Pot Limit Omaha. Those two lucky fellows were GIVE_IT2ME who was eliminated at the final hurdle by KojG9, the duo scooping $10,398 and $15,078 respectively. Of course, KojG9 also picked up a ticket to the festival ending Grand Slam Final, a ticket worth a not-too-shabby $5,000!

Special mentions have to go out to that man Doobs once again, for his 15th place finish whilst michaeltr11 was the Team Betfair who progressed the furthest, busting out on the bubble of the final table in 11th spot.

GSOP 9 Mini-Event #7: $20+$2 Pot Limit Omaha $10,000 Guaranteed

Despite being a relative amateur in Pot Limit Omaha circles I was quite confident about this event. The opening six events had seen me run pretty bad (OK I played horrible in the first two events too) but in Omaha you can often receive a confidence boost due to making big hands more often and seeing some crazy action! Unfortunately that was not the case.

My tournament came to an end in 384th place - 685 players started - when I got my chips in with top two, pair, a gutshot and the nut flush draw but still lost out when middle set held. Seriously, I do not know what I need to do in order to overcome this horrible run of cards and the most ridiculous cold deck I have faced in a while. At least my fellow Team Betfair players have been having a better time of it, especially musbilen who managed to progress to the final table before busting out in sixth place for a score of $496.41.
