Peter Crouch

Peter Crouch was born in Macclesfield on the 30th January 1981. He has grown an exceptional two metres since then! The player came through the ranks at Tottenham Hotspur, but he failed to make an appearance and was off-loaded to QPR in 2000. By 2001, Crouch had moved to Portsmouth in a £1.5million move. He wasn't at Fratton Park too long, though, as after scoring 18 goals in 37 games, Premier League side Aston Villa signed him for £5million in March 2002.

Crouch never established himself at Villa, scoring just six goals in 37 games and in 2004 was sold to Southampton for £2.5million.

St. Mary's is where the Peter Crouch story really starts. Originally brought to the club as back up to James Beattie and Kevin Phillips, once Harry Redknapp arrived at the club, Crouch became the attacking focal point. He scored 16 goals in 33 appearances but couldn't save the Saints from relegation and on July 19th 2005, Crouch agreed to join Liverpool in a £7million deal.

The start to Crouch's Anfield experience was hapless; the big man had a 19 game goal drought, spanning four months. In December 2005, though, Crouch netted twice against Wigan to break his duck. In his first season at the club he was instrumental in Liverpool's FA Cup success, scoring 13 in 49 games in total. The 2006-2007 season saw Liverpool and Crouch make it to the Champions League final, but they fell to Italian adversaries AC Milan. Crouch scored seven European goals, and in total he scored 18 for the season in 49 appearances.

The 2007-2008 season saw the arrival of Fernando Torres and subsequently Crouch was deemed surplus to requirements. He was sold for £11million to Portsmouth at the end of the 2008-2009 season.

Crouch again spent just one season at Fratton Park. He made 38 league appearances and scored 11 goals as helped Portsmouth to a solid 14th place finish. Old manager Harry Redknapp came in for him again, signing him for Tottenham for the 2009-2010 season.

Crouch's homecoming at Tottenham was successful; during his first season he helped the club achieve Champions League football for the first time in their history, with 13 goals in 48 appearances. The 2010-2011 season saw Crouch return to the Champions League after a two year hiatus, and he scored seven goals in 10 games. However, four league goals in 34 appearances was not a good return, so the club sold him to Stoke, where he is now enjoying his third season and his second longest spell at any club.
