Hull City v Man Utd Tip - Back wave after wave of Utd attacks

Manchester United are just 1/31.33 to win away at Hull City which tells you everything you need to know about the hosts. In winning the Championship play-offs last season, they finished 22 points behind champions Coventry and 11 points behind second place Ipswich. But that's just the start of it.

Based on expected points, Hull achieved just 52 points, 21 fewer than their actual 73 points. It was the biggest overachievement in the Championship and ranked them as the second worst side in the division. On Saturday, I want to back United to dominate the game given the gap in quality and odds.

Hull conceded the second most shots-on-target in the Championship last season (4.76 per-game) and United had the most shots-on-target in the Premier League last season (5.70 per-game). With Hull stepping up in class here, United to have over 6.5 shots-on-target looks achievable.

The Tigers conceded the fourth most corners in the Championship (5.98 per-game) so let's also add over 5.5 United corners. Finally, Hull committed the sixth most fouls (11.4 per-game) in the Championship and United were fouled 10.8 times per-game away from home last term. It makes sense to back over 11.5 Hull fouls. Combining all three selections pays 4/15.00.

Everton v Crystal Palace Tip - Back Palace to avoid defeat as Sage era begins

Saturday, 15:00

I'm not sure why Everton are 23/202.15 here. In this the fixture in the last two seasons they have been 8/52.60 and 17/102.70. Over the summer they've lost Jack Grealish, Dwight McNeil and Idrissa Gueye - although Grealish may yet return before the end of the transfer window.

The Toffees have brought in Brennan Johnson coincidentally from Palace who failed to score in 26 games for them, Christian Norgaard, who's now 32, and Hayden Hackney who manager David Moyes has already said needs time to adapt.

Along with Oliver Glasner, Crystal Palace have lost Maxence Lacroix but that's where the negatives end. They made four times what they paid for Lacroix and have strengthened the squad with the signings of Guessand, Khalaili, Gozo, McNeil, Mingueza and Tomiyasu. The spine continues to look fantastic with Henderson, Richards, Wharton, Sarr and Mateta. Wing-backs Munoz and Mitchell provide the width.

Everton suffered a real drop off after Grealish was injured in January. They won nine of 19 games he started (47%) but only won five of 22 without him (23%).

New Palace manager Pierre Sage ran PSG close last season at Lille in Ligue 1, finishing second, just six points behind, and won the French Cup.

Ipswich v Sunderland Tip - Back tight opener at Portman Road

Saturday, 15:00

Ipswich start their Premier League campaign after one season away as slight underdog to a Sunderland side who backed up their spending by finishing in the European places and crucially seem to have kept hold of captain Granit Xhaka.

Sunderland's success last term was built on being difficult to beat, with only five teams suffering fewer losses, as a result of having the fourth best defence in the division. Only Everton had more under 2.5 games away from home than Sunderland and they began the season with eight of their first 10 games finishing under 2.5 on the road.

There's been lots of changes at Ipswich this summer, so how quickly will the new players and manager Gary O'Neil gel? They started their previous Premier League season in 24/25 with eight of their first 11 home games going under 2.5 and that has to be the bet with the market only slightly favouring unders.

Nottm Forest v Leeds Tip - No bet in Glasner's first game

Saturday, 15:00

With new Nottingham Forest boss Oliver Glasner having only just arrived this summer, how quickly will he be able to stamp his mark on a team for whom he will be their fifth manager in less than 12 months?

In the second half of last season, Leeds United settled under Daniel Farke after a switch to a 3-5-2 formation that yielded only five defeats in 19 games. They've had a solid transfer window and kept most of the squad together while adding attacker Harry Wilson on top of defensive reinforcements in Tarik Muharemovic and James Trafford.

I'm not prepared to guess how much the Forest players have taken onboard from their new boss Glasner, so I'm happy to keep this game as a watching brief.

Brentford v Tottenham Tip - Back goals as De Zerbi makes his mark

Live on Sky Sports

Excitement and anticipation is back at Tottenham, despite back-to-back 17th-place finishes, the London side just 11/102.11 for a top six finish.

In De Zerbi's previous spell in-charge in England, at Brighton, the Seagulls averaged 3.37 goals per-game across 89 matches. His last job at Marseille saw 3.75 goals per-game across 69 matches.

Tottenham tend to enjoy playing Brentford, having scored two or more goals in five of their last six meetings. Brentford's matches last season averaged 2.82 goals per-game (for 55, against 52) but they underachieved their expected goals at both ends of the pitch by 18 goals, meaning their matches averaged 3.30 xG per-game.
