Mark Hughes' Bradford face their first home match of the season on Saturday

Alan Dudman hit five out of six winners in last weekend's column and also landed a 7/18.00 acca and our expert has two multiples this weekend...

Leg 1: Back Carlisle to beat Oxford United

Last weekend Gillingham were included in the multiple and won at a decent price at 10/34.33, and the booster for the acca on Saturday looks Carlisle with a trip to Oxford.

The U's look a terrible price at 4/61.67 and while a few fancy Liam Manning's side for promotion this season, I don't get it, and I would be surprised to see Manning last out the season.

Oxford lost 0-2 last week at Cambridge and were thumped in midweek in the EFL Cup.

Four of the last eight league games between Oxford United and Carlisle United have ended in a 2-1 scoreline (Oxford United W2, Carlisle United W2), so the draw is also under consideration, especially at 2/13.00 with the 90 minute payout.

The much sought after Owen Moxon scored a free-kick for Carlisle in the 1-1 draw against Fleetwood last weekend - a good start to life in League One after promotion, and we'll go with the 18/54.60 price for the win on Saturday.

KEY OPTA STAT: Carlisle are looking to go unbeaten in their first two league games for the third consecutive season following their 1-1 draw with Fleetwood on MD1.

Leg 2: Back The Draw in 90 minutes Peterborough v Charlton

Charlton strike Alfie May enjoyed playing against Peterborough last term - as he scored on the opening day of the season for the Robins at Whaddon Road, and scored a sensational goal at London Road as part of a brace in the 0-3 win for Cheltenham towards the end of the season.

May's signing over the summer has certainly influenced a few ante-post selections for Charlton and they look a fair price at 14/53.80 for success on the road at Peterborough.

I don't like Posh's price at all at 8/111.73 and they did lose six times at home last term - which was joint worst amongst the top clubs in the play-offs.

After defeating Leyton Orient on MD1, Charlton are looking for wins in their opening two league games of a season for the first time since 2019-20 in the Championship, and if they are to prove themselves as contenders, there's no reason why they cannot get a result on Saturday.

Two of the last three League One matches between Peterborough United and Charlton Athletic at the Weston Homes Stadium have been goalless draws, while the other was a 2-1 win for Peterborough in 2021, and I am leaning towards the draw with the 90 minute payout at 2/13.00.

KEY OPTA STAT: Peterborough United are unbeaten in their last 10 League One matches against Charlton Athletic (W6 D4), an unbeaten run that started back in December 2016.

Leg 3: Back Barnsley to beat Bristol Rovers

I've tipped Bristol Rovers at 33/134.00 each-way in the League One Winner market and they got off to a reasonable start last weekend with a 1-1 draw against Portsmouth.

Barnsley however were the stars of the weekend with a 7-0 thrashing of Port Vale - and a good afternoon too with Devante Cole scoring a hat-trick.

The Gas are winless in their last eight league games (D3 L5) - they last went nine such games without a win in February 2020 (run of 11 - D5 L6), and Barnsley might have one or two issues off the pitch, but after their excellent start, I was surprised they were 13/102.30 on the Sportsbook when looking at the markets initially, especially as Rovers conceded a lot of goals at home last term.

KEY OPTA STAT: Barnsley have lost just one of their last eight matches against Bristol Rovers across all competitions - winning five and drawing the other two.

Back Barnsley to beat Bristol Rovers @ 13/102.30

Leg 1: Back Bradford to beat Colchester

Colchester really struggled on the road last season in League Two - losing 13 times with just 19 goals scored, and they lost the reverse fixture last season at Bradford 2-0.

Andy Cook scored one of the goals, and the leading goalgetter from the division is a huge player for Mark Hughes's side - although he drew a blank last weekend in the defeat to Crawley. Bradford surprisingly didn't have too many shots with an xG of just 0.54.

However, the Bantams were excellent at home last term with just four losses and Col U have failed to score in consecutive away games in League Two, last going three or more away games with a goal in the competition back in December 2021, a six-game run.

KEY OPTA STAT: Bradford City have only won their first home league game of the season in one of their last five campaigns, defeating Oldham Athletic in 2021-22 (D3 L1).

Back Bradford to beat Colchester @ 19/201.95

Leg 2: Back Gillingham and Accrington BTTS

Gillingham were winners at a good price for the column last weekend beating Stockport and do have the look of a side under Neil Harris that could play a part in the promotion battle.

Accrington got their League Two campaign off to a flyer last weekend with a 3-0 home success against Newport County, and the wily old fox John Coleman has always been known as a manager whose team has goals in them - mostly conceding. In League One last term they shipped 39 at home and 38 on the road.

The BTTS is obviously of interest, but we'll go over 2.5 here at a better 13/102.30.

KEY OPTA STAT: Gillingham have won five of the last eight meetings between the two sides (D2 L1) and they have only lost two of their last 12 against Accrington Stanley across all competitions (W6 D4).

Leg 3: Back Macaulay Langstaff To Score Anytime v Grimsby

Life back in the Football League for Notts County got off to the worst possible start last Saturday with a 5-1 loss at Sutton United.

Goalkeeper Aidan Stone's red card on 15 minutes made it a horror start for the Magpies, and we shouldn't read too much into that result as Luke Williams' side had to play with 10 men, and their attacking riches were nullified with just three shots on target.

Williams called them "weak and pathetic", which was hardly a ringing endorsement for new signing David McGoldrick - who is far too good for this level. McGoldrick scored, but Macaulay Langstaff drew a blank. A rare blank too for the forward who it a record 42 goals in the National League last term.

County were again lacklustre in the EFL Cup in midweek, but we can get 7/52.40 on a real goal machine, in a game that could throw up goals.

KEY OPTA STAT: Notts County lost against Sutton United on MD1 and are now hoping to avoid opening an EFL campaign with consecutive league defeats for the first time since 2013-14, against Sheffield United and Peterborough.

Back Macaulay Langstaff to score anytime v Grimsby @ 7/52.40
