There's no getting away from the fact it's been a poor week for this column but the weekend awaits and hopefully the Africa Cup of Nations will provide some respite.
They are down to the quarter-finals now and hosts Ivory Coast face Mali in what could well be the tie of the round.
Mali have impressed so far, winning their group and seeing off Burkino Faso in the last 16. Ivory Coast, struggled much more, only scraping through the group stage as one of the best third-placed finishers, although they did raise their game to beat holders Senegal in the first knockout round.
They are two teams who do like to attack and with that in mind, I'm going to delve into the shots on target market.
To kick things off, let's get with the hosts' Seko Fofana for 1+ SOT.
He sits fourth on the tournament's list for shots taken with 12 and he's landed the SOT target bet in three of his four games so far.
He loves to drive forward into the box and looks to be a key man for the host nation.
I'll double him up with a player I've already mentioned in this column during AFCON and that's Kamory Doumbia.
The Malian was mentioned for his strong goalscoring record in the run-up to the tournament. Sadly, he's failed to find the net so far but he's still produced some eyecatching performances.
In his three starts so far, he's managed nine shots, three on target, and has landed this bet twice.
A double on the duo pays close to 5/16.00.
