13:15 Kempton - Tony Calvin: Back Sea Invasion

"Given his pedigree - he is by a Leger third out of a 1m7f winner on the Flat - this step up to 2m5f should really suit him, and he also finished a 2-length second to a certain Slade Steel in his only point in 2022.

"His trainer won this race in 2022 with a well-backed 7/2 jolly (he had a double on the card) and Sea Invasion could prove very well handicapped here, even if 1lb wrong."

13:50 Kempton - Paul Nicholls: Kalif has obvious chance

"He was bought to be a chaser and could hardly have been more impressive on his first start in this country over hurdles last month at Kempton. He was in control the whole way, jumped fluently and stretched clear for a decisive success. Kalif is very smart, worked great this week and has an obvious chance of defying a 5lbs penalty. We will see how he runs before making any plans about Cheltenham or Aintree."

15:00 Kempton - Daryl Carter Back Panjari

"His German flat form - which saw him earn an RPR of 117 - which pushes a rating over the 100 mark- suggests he still has plenty of room for improvement in this sphere.

Paul Nicholls has won this race three times in the last ten years, and all ten winners, bar Nicholls' Southfield Stone, had won on their previous outings. He ticks plenty of boxes, and I expect Harry Cobden to dominate this race and put the evergreen jumping of Lump Sum and Secret Squirrel under pressure.

I make the selection a 11/4 chance, so any 4/1 or bigger is excellent value, but I see his BSP likely to be a very fair price."

14:08 Newcastle - Tony Calvin Back Flower of Scotland

"I want Flower Of Scotland onside, even if the market has cottoned on to her in the last 48 hours or so. She was 14s and 12s on Wednesday morning before attracting money. Back her at 15/2 each way, four places, with the Sportsbook.

"The reason I want to back her each way is that so few in here are proven at the trip. Granted, we haven't seen her since she disappointed at Carlisle in November, so she has blow-out potential too, but if she runs her race then I think she will be hard to kick out of the first four."

15:37 Kempton - Daryl Carter Back Cap Du Nord

"On the back of his run at Doncaster last year, he won at Ascot, and on the back of Doncaster in 2022, he won this race. Today sees the ideal set-up, and with the course suggesting it could dry out to good to soft, he will have plenty in his favour.

At a big price, he looks worth siding with at 16/1 or bigger with Tristan Durrell in the plate called upon because of the light weight. I expect him to go off at single-figure odds.

Bowtogreatness is on the radar for a big handicap, but I hope this scenario won't be to his liking and is one for the Aintree meeting in a few weeks. Forward Plan is highly progressive and appeals greatly, having gone close in the aforementioned Doncaster race.

The selection is top-priced 18/1 with the Betfair Sportsbook."

15:43 Chepstow - Paul Nicholls: Quel Destin on a hat-trick

"He is also declared at Kempton just in case Chepstow is called off. Quel Destin is a legend of a horse. He won five times as a juvenile for us including the Grade 1 Finale Hurdle at this track in December, 2018, is still going strong aged nine and is on a hat-trick after winning at Chepstow seven weeks ago. He loves it round Chepstow and although the trip of two miles is arguably on the short side for him, with the ground likely to be borderline unraceable he is sure to be staying on strongly."

13:30 Fairyhouse - Rachael Blackmore: Theatre Native a nice mare

"Theatre Native was disappointing on her hurdling debut at Clonmel in November, but her bloods were wrong afterwards, it just wasn't her running. She has had a nice break since then, and she is in good form at home now.

It looked like she was going to win her point-to-point for Donnchadh Doyle, she was clear at the last when she fell. She is a nice mare, she has been working well, and hopefully she can put her last run behind her."

14:27 Kempton - Mark Milligan Back Arclight

"Twice a winner over hurdles, she's really elevated her form since going chasing, winning all three starts to date, beginning with a novice handicap at Kempton in October.

She then followed up in straightforward fashion at Exeter, essentially strolling home four lengths clear of subsequent winner Mayhem Mya.

However, it's her most recent success at Wincanton that marks her out as a serious prospect in this sort of grade.

Travelling typically well and jumping with her usual fluency, Arclight came home a ready winner ahead of Marsh Wren, who franked the form in no uncertain terms when taking both her next two starts, including a listed mares chase at Thurles.

Further back, Plenty Of Time went on to a subsequent success, so the form has a rock-solid look to it.

Getting weight all round, Arclight will do for me, particularly as she has less questions marks over her than her main rivals."
