"Park Annonciade went up what looked a harsh 5lb for a neck win at Ayr last time, but the fact the third came out and won a Fakenham handicap by 18 lengths earlier this week suggests differently.

"I am taking the step up to 2m3f for the first time to be a positive. Granted, he emptied out over an extended 2m1f at Sligo in June but he was given an overly-aggressive ride there (though the winner has scored twice since and is now rated 131) and he is by Leger winner Masked Marvel out of a mare who stayed 3m2f."

Haydock 13:50 - Daryl Carter: Mullins runner a stand-out at Betfair's Haydock meeting

"The trip is no concern for Gaillard Du Mesnil. His record over this 2m5f distance is excellent. He was third to Mighty Potter in the Grade 1 Ladbroke Chase at the Dublin Racing Festival, second to Mighty Potter in the Grade 1 Drinmore, and third to Galopin Des Champs in the Grade 1 Novice Chase at the 2022 Dublin Racing Festival.

"He is a Ballymore runner-up and is the class act in the field. The form is miles clear, and this is a race for horses that have not won more than two chase races, so it looks like an excellent place for Willie Mullins to get a win on the board."

"He is in top order, never better and full of himself at the moment. He was bucking and squealing in the schooling arena on Thursday morning, turning himself inside out.

"He has definitely come on a lot since the Charlie Hall at Wetherby which was rather like a racecourse gallop, then he made a mistake at the last fence and got a big tired late on. He is older now and probably just needed that first run of the season, he has won at Haydock before and the drying ground on a flat track will suit."

Haydock 15:00 - Kevin Blake: Bravemansgame can win Betfair Chase with ease

"Opinions seem divided on Bravemansgame's comeback run in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby earlier this month. He was beaten by Gentlemansgame after making an uncharacteristic mistake at the final fence, but I would be very forgiving of it."

"Firstly, Gentlemansgame is a very good horse that had race fitness on his side and was in receipt of 6lb. As well as that, Bravemansgame has always taken a notable step forward from first start to second."
