Race of the day
Today's race of the day is Leicester's 15:50 where there looks to be a false favourite at the top of the market.
Salvatore Mundi looks short enough, considering he was behind Cliffs Of Fury at Kempton earlier this year and on his last two starts, has been held by horses from that race. His progression seems to have stalled, so he will need the cheekpieces to bring out further improvement. Much of his chances today rely on those working and getting a good position from the break - he is one-paced.
Cliffs Of Fury, in turn, took a step forward from the Kempton run with a good running on effort at Newmarket despite not handling the track. He has now bumped into three highly progressive horses and this looks a good opportunity for him to strike.
He makes most appeal.
Polyphonic looks rather overpriced, given he finished strongly at Ripon last time. Still, he is another that needs a jolt of improvement, but where it will come from, I am not sure.
Big race verdict
This is a good race, but ready preference is for Cliffs Of Fury, who has bumped into some useful horses in his last three starts and now finds himself with an excellent opportunity to score. Salvatore Mundi is too short in the market.

Final Word
It's a short and sweet column today, little news and, to be honest, some poor racing from around the country. It does get better as we move through the week, though, but it is a tranquil period in the flat calender with the Derby meeting just on the horizon.
I hope you find something to punt today, and until tomorrow, be lucky!
