William Haggas has a 38% strike-rate over the past five years with his two-year-olds at Carlisle and he sends Fast Performer on the long journey north to make his handicap debut in this 6f nursery.

Cieren Fallon's mount has only run twice but has made the first four in each of those starts and qualifies under rules brought in this season, before which he would have had to have made the obligatory three runs.

The son of Showcasing finished second on his debut in July and the form of that run was franked by the winner going in on his own nursery debut next time.

The selection's other run has to go down as a bit of a disappointment given he was sent of odds-on and could finish only fourth at Newmarket, but it could be that that wasn't a bad race and the winner looks pretty useful having gone in again since.

With just two starts under his belt, there's plenty of room for Fast performer to still progress and an opening mark of 72 doesn't look too harsh at all.

This staying chase may have attracted just four runners, but all of the quartet come into it in fine form and it looks more competitive than those numbers suggest.

It's not hard to rule any of them out with great certainty - particularly as three of the four won last time out - but Dan Skelton has his team in flying form and Glenmalure Flyer is one of a just a pair he sends up to County Durham.

This mare only made her debut for the Skelton yard in June having previously been trained in Ireland and she made light of a 570-day layoff to go in over 3m at Bangor, scoring with a fair bit in hand.

However, she failed to follow that up next time, with a marked drop back in trip probably counting against her. She was soon back on track next time, though, suited by going back up to an extended 3m 3f at Stratford and coming home comfortably ahead of a pair of subsequent winners.

Glenmalure Flyer looks all about stamina and she can grind her three rivals into submission kept to a similar trip to last time.

While the Dan Skelton stable is in flying the form over jumps, the same can be said about William Knight's team on the flat, who are going through quite a purple patch.

The trainer's strike-rate over the last fortnight is a handsome 36% and he can further enhance that record by winning the Kempton closer with the mount of Oisin Murphy, Bintaryana.

This three-year-old filly has finished out of the first two only once this term and recorded her third win of a productive season when winning a handicap over this C&D last time out. A half-sister to Diligent Harry, Bintaryana is bred to a useful sprinter, with the looks to back up that pedigree, and it would be no surprise if she continued to climb the ranks as she matures.

Only one horse has run out of the Kempton contest she won recently but the form could hardly have been better advertised by the ninth-place finisher Aigeas winning last week.

There's still scope in the selection's handicap mark and I'm hoping she can end the day on a high note for us.
