Football Bet of the Day: Canary side to have their wings clipped

• Tenerife have taken two points from last six games

• Cartagena have lost just twice on the road

As Star Wars villain Emperor Palpatine once said, "everything is proceeding as I have foreseen", and that's what happened in Madrid last night, as Antoine Griezmann netted the winner in Atletico's 1-0 victory against Mallorca. That gives us a good chance of finishing the week in the black, and we'll head to Spain, because two strugglers meet in the Canary Islands as Tenerife take on Cartagena.

I was burned recently as I went against Cartagena in their trip to Real Oviedo, and I'm not willing to make the same mistake twice. Although Cartagena are bottom of the Segunda Division, they have actually drawn back-to-back games, and on the road they have only lost two out of seven. Weirdly, it's on home soil where they have an atrocious record.

Tenerife started the campaign fairly well, but have been on the slide for weeks. Asier Garitano's side haven't won in nearly two months in the league, and they have claimed just two points from their last six outings. Across those six games they have scored a paltry two goals, and they have failed to score in their last two home matches. That decline is all the more surprising when you consider that Tenerife have won seven of their last ten at the Heliodoro.

Tenerife are the bigger club with the better players, but they aren't playing well, and Cartagena are awkward opponents. I'll lay the hosts at 1.910/11.
