Monday Football Tips: Expect cards in Croatia

It's clearly a generalisation but there's a definitely correlation between the best teams and the cleanest teams in international football.

But the two 2018 World Cup finalists are both slight outliers in that theory.

Croatia have picked up at least two cards in 18 of their last 29 competitive internationals with the likes of Marcelo Brozovic and Duje Caleta-Car regularly in trouble with the officials.

France's equivalent figures are slightly worse but 13 of 31 is still better than many teams of a similar ranking.

Given this data, plus the fact that both sides need a performance after suffering defeats on matchday one of the Nations League, I think the chance of both sides receiving two cards here is overpriced.

These two met in the last edition of this tournament and the bet landed on both occasions.

In addition, referee Marco Guida hasn't been shy with the cards this season.

He was one of the stricter officials in Serie A this season, averaging just over five cards per game.

Over 1.5 cards for each team at around 17/10 therefore looks a decent play in the night's big match.
