Kane-less Bayern can still thrive
Bayern Munich v Heidenheim
Saturday 07 December, 14:30
It's been a tough week for Vincent Kompany and Bayern Munchen. They needed a late goal to rescue a 1-1 draw at Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker, and then they slipped out of the DFB Pokal, as an early red card for keeper Manuel Neuer saw them forced onto the back foot at home to Bayer Leverkusen. Eventually Xabi Alonso's double winners forced a breakthrough, and the visitors won 1-0 to reach the quarter-finals.
There are still question marks over whether Kompany's Bayern can beat the top sides. They have drawn with Leverkusen, Frankfurt and Dortmund in the league, lost to Leverkusen in the cup and been beaten at Aston Villa and Barcelona in the Champions League. However, against teams below that level they have been lethal, racking up goals and wins.
Out-of-form Heidenheim look particularly vulnerable this weekend. Frank Schmidt's team have lost nine of their last 11 games in all competitions, and they are really struggling against the big hitters. They lost 4-2 at Borussia Dortmund, 5-2 at Bayer Leverkusen and 4-0 at home to Eintracht Frankfurt. They are shipping two goals per game in the league, and goalkeeper Kevin Müller seems particularly low on confidence.
Bayern have scored three goals or more in eight of their 12 Bundesliga matches, and I'll happily back them -2.5 on the Asian Handicap here at 1.865/6.

I'll also back Jamal Musiala to score at 10/111.91 - the German international has found the net in five of his last nine club games, and without the injured Harry Kane, Bayern will be looking for the 21-year-old to get into the box as often as possible.

Tired Bayer can be got at
Bayer Leverkusen v St Pauli
Saturday 07 December, 14:30
While Xabi Alonso's Bayer have made progress in the DFB Pokal this week with an excellent 1-0 win at Bayern Munich, there is still a fragility about their defending in the Bundesliga. Die Werkself have only managed one clean sheet in the league all season, and they have conceded twice at home to both Heidenheim and Holstein Kiel. Even rock-bottom Bochum managed to breach the Bayer defence.
With Bayer drained by their Herculean midweek efforts in Munich, I believe St Pauli can at least score once. The Hamburg-based team beat Holstein Kiel 3-1 last weekend, with striker Johannes Eggestein involved in all three goals.
St Pauli have only scored 10 goals in the league in 12 games, but don't let that fool you. Oladapo Afolayan and Morgan Guilavogui can provide the kind of speed on the counter that Bayer have really struggled to deal with this season.
I'm happy to snap up the price of 2.1211/10 that's available on the Exchange to back Both Teams To Score.

Marmoush to lead Eagles' fightback
Eintracht Frankfurt v Augsburg
Saturday 07 December, 14:30
Eintracht Frankfurt are second in the Bundesliga and going well in Europe, but they turned in one of their poorest displays of the season in midweek, as they lost 3-0 at RB Leipzig in the DFB Pokal. My suspicion is that an angry Frankfurt will come roaring back against an Augsburg team that has consistently fallen short on the road.
My main focus is on Egyptian superstar Omar Marmoush, who has netted a staggering 13 Bundesliga goals in just 12 games this term. He has delivered 17 goals in all competitions, and has netted in six of his last eight appearances. He takes free-kicks, penalties and is playing the best football of his career. It's no surprise that Liverpool, Tottenham and Barcelona have been linked with moves for the former Wolfsburg and Stuttgart forward.
Augsburg's away form suggests they'll struggle to slow Marmoush and company down. They played 120 tiring minutes in the cup on Wednesday, eventually squeezing past second-tier Karlsruhe with a 120th-minute leveller and a penalty shoot-out victory. In the league they have lost eight of their last nine on the road, conceding at least three goals in all but one of those defeats.
Marmoush has to be backed to score while he's still odds against, and he is 11/102.11 on the Sportsbook here. If he doesn't start for whatever reason, back his strike partner Hugo Ekitike at 13/82.63 - the Frenchman has ten goals in all competitions.
