English clubs maintain 100 per cent record but struggle to break down mediocre opposition...
On a night when the Portuguese star hit two goals for Real Madrid, the identity of Cristiano Ronaldo's replacement at Manchester United was revealed.
His name is Ryan Giggs and he scored his 150th goal for United after they traded at [5.0] on their way to a 2-1 victory over Wolfsburg at Old Trafford. The 36-year-old, who has been in superb form in the last few weeks, continued to defy age tonight, scoring United's equaliser from a free-kick and setting up Michael Carrick for the winner 12 minutes from time.
United, who went behind when Edzin Deko headed Wolfsburg into the lead ten minutes into the second half, now lead Group B by three points and can be backed at [10.0] to win this season's Champions League.
Why Chelsea are favoured over United at [6.4] in the winner market is anyone's guess. They put in a lack-lustre performance on their way to a 0-1 victory over APOEL Nicosia. Nicolas Anelka struck the decisive goal after 18 minutes but the Cypriots were allowed to battle their way back into the match after the break and, against a more accomplished side Chelsea would have been punished.
Real Madrid had to wait until the second half until the floodgates opened against Marseille at the Bernabeu. The Spaniards, who won 3-0, are [5.8] second favourites to lift Europe's most coveted trophy next May behind Barcelona.
Elsewhere, there were wins for Porto and Bordeaux as well as FC Zurich's shock 0-1 triumph over Milan at the San Siro which was matched at [19.5]
Bayern Munich and Juventus' 0-0 draw was matched at [3.7].
