Ryan Moore: The verdict on my Sunday rides at Newmarket

Ryan enjoys big race success at Homecoming Queen in the 2012 1,000 Guineas - will he enjoy more winners this Sunday?

Ryan talks about the 1,000 Guineas elsewhere but there are six other rides at Newmarket and here are his views on all of them...

"I gather Snow Trouble has always been highly-rated and hopefully he can prove competitive here. In fact, I think he will go well."

Mighty Yar

He disappointed on his reappearance when stepped up to 1m6f in the soft at Nottingham, but hopefully a step back in trip on better ground will see him to better effect. He did look a decent prospect when winning at Sandown last year, when he was still a big backward horse, but he is 13lb higher here and he has to put that modest comeback run behind him.

Progressed throughout last season and ran her best race yet when signing off with a length second to Sky Lantern in the Group 1 Sun Chariot here.  Steps back down to Group 3 company, the extra furlong won't be an issue, she has been working really well, and I'd be disappointed if she didn't go very close to winning this. No, I'd be disappointed if she didn't win.

Ashpan Sam

Officially improved 19lb towards the end of last season, when he won a 6f Goodwood handicap impressively on his final start. His best performances came on soft ground, which is a slight concern, but he has form on a faster surface and if he has improved again over the winter then we could be in business. This is clearly his stiffest task to date though, and he has needed his reappearance run in the past, I see.

I don't know much about him but he looks the part on paper being a 370,000gns Oasis Dream colt out of Splashdown, who I won a 1m2f listed race on for Luca Cumani. Someone told me that Hugo hasn't had a first time out 2yo winner. I don't know whether that is true, but hopefully we can put that right here if it is!

Took her chance in the Fillies Mile here after winning a Goodwood maiden, and was predictably outclassed, without being disgraced. The step up to 1m2f is in her favour on pedigree, but the likes of Taghrooda and Sound Reflection are probably the ones to beat in here.

Snow Trouble

Won a decent 7f maiden at Goodwood last season and was just touched off in a conditions race at Kempton on his reappearance, where I thought that he was a little unlucky in a messy race. A mark of 89 doesn't look too generous on what he has shown - though the Kempton race is working out well, with the fifth horse home winning since - but I gather he has always been highly-rated and hopefully he can prove competitive here. In fact, I think he will go well.
