Ylang Ylang ready for Group 1 Fillies' Mile
It is currently still on the quick side at Newmarket despite rain on Wednesday and overnight, as we do this, but I don't know how much of the further, expected rain will arrive in the next couple of days. We could get a lot more.
Alabama is a very consistent colt and he has his chance in a very open contest if running his race again. His best form to date has been on decent ground. Sweetest needs to improve a fair bit to get into the mix here.
She's a well-related Kingman filly and I really liked the way she knuckled down to win at Salisbury last time, after which Juddmonte bought her. I rode her stablemate in that race, who won next time, and the form has worked out well. I expect a very good run from her in what looks a winnable Group 3. She has the look of a solid favourite in here to me, and more rain could well suit her.
He is in good nick, he is he ground-versatile and he is one of the form horses in here. His best performances have come at a mile but he has plenty of pace and Audience, Matilda Picotte and Pogo should ensure a strong gallop. He probably has as good a chance as any.
He obviously didn't give his true running in the St Leger last time but his sights are lowered here and he clearly has a good chance on his Melrose second, or his Haydock third off this mark. Others in here may have more handicap upside, with Humanity an obvious example, but we will see. His draw in 11 could have been better, I suppose.
She was taken off her feet a bit on quick ground over 7f here last time, so the step up to 1m will suit and she has form on soft if we get a lot of rain. I'd like to think she is the filly to beat if returning to the form of her Leopardstown win. We have always thought of her as a Group One filly. Brilliant has an outside chance on her run two starts ago.
Both of our fillies in here have similar chances in a very open race. Boogie Woogie has been a bit below par since her mid-season break but she has definite claims on her early summer form, while Unless has the better recent efforts to her name. I couldn't really split the pair at their best but I ride Unless, a fair sixth in the Blandford last time.
