Just a two runner race in the opener at Exeter 13:00 Best Mate Novices' Limited Handicap Chase and debutant Sebastopol 3.02/1 was rated 5lbs superior to Mick Pastor 1.84/5 over hurdles. The latter has improved ten pounds over fences, and despite the numbers, this looks an excellent little heat.
In the finale at Exeter, 15:50 South West "Junior" National Hunt Flat Race
all eight runners make their debut's, but Victor Dartnall is four for 19 in bumpers in the last five seasons and runs Pocket Too 5.04/1.
At Yarmouth in the 13:23 British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes, trainer William Haggas is looking for his third win in the race and has booked Ryan Moore for Amanzoe 7.513/2. The pair have a 26% strike rate at Yarmouth.
Three-year-olds have won four of the last five of the 16:15 Cazoo Search Drive Smile Handicap at Yarmouth, and it's the same story in the 16:50 Read Hollie Doyle's Column On attheraces.com Handicap.
There's no such thing as a good thing in racing?

She faces two rivals who, on their best RPR'S (Racing Post Ratings) combined, still fall short of her latest one recorded by 17 pounds.

This section highlights a trainer, owner or jockey who is in excellent current form and their runners or rides for the day.
Trainer Scott Dixon has been operating at a 33% strike rate in the last 14 days with three winners from his last ten runners. Today he runs five horses all at Newcastle.
Trainer Archie Watson is today's furthest traveller. He has made the 284-mile journey to Newcastle for just one runner. Verona Star 6.05/1 in the 14:15, and he has booked Hollie Doyle, for which the pair have a 34% strike rate at Newcastle, and they are today's stat of the day.
Race of the day
Newcastle's 14:50 Betway Handicap looks like a competitive heat with a max field of 14 runners, but there doesn't look like there is too much pace on in this race. Still, being drawn high is an advantage.
Desert Gulf caught the eye behind the useful Jumby over 7f at Newmarket last time out, and it's highly likely he would have finished much closer to the winner granted a clear passage.
This drop back to six furlongs shouldn't inconvenience him, but it may not bring out the required improvement needed to land this contest. He will undoubtedly be finishing strongly, and it just may be that his ideal trip is over seven.
Still, he needs careful consideration given his unexposed profile, and he did run well over this course and distance as a two-year-old. He is one of the more likely players in this contest.
Equiano Springs sprung back to life at Newmarket last time when value for much more than the winning margin of half a length suggests. Granted a clear run, he surely could have won with any amount in hand.
He does have a liking for that Newmarket course, and he likes this one too. He has scored in five of his ten runs at this venue, including off of a four pounds higher handicap mark.
He steps back up in grade today but ticks plenty of boxes for an each-way bet.
Of those at bigger odds, Kind Review can't be discounted easily back at his favourite course.
He has scored here five times and has a good draw in stall 13, and with a lack of pace on the front end, connections may revert to front-running tactics.
He hasn't been disgraced on three starts this term on turf, but the all-weather clearly suits him best. He sits 1lb below his last winning handicap mark (over five furlongs), and Tom Eaves is back in the saddle.
There is good reason to think he will run well at a price.
Timeform at Kempton with three of their best
The Timeform team head to Kempton and offer up their NAP, NB and each-way shout!
I am looking forward to a busy week this week. I am off to Exeter today to visit and host hospitality clients before more of the same at Newbury on Saturday, and I am rounding off the week at Wincanton.
There will be plenty of miles on the clock, but it also means that National Hunt racing is about to kick off.
Cheltenham's open meeting gets underway on Friday, and that really gets the ante-post juices flowing for March - yes, yes, I know it's too early to be speaking about it but keep an eye on this space. There may be a new column on the horizon!
Until tomorrow, be lucky!
