World Cup Team-by-Team Guide
Another way to get to know every team at this year's World Cup is to read Mark O'Haire's brilliant 48-team guide, which features a comprehensive preview of every nation, past performances and odds to win the World Cup.
Here's a snippet from Mark's preview of tournament favourites Spain.
Mark O'Haire: "Questions remain over the goalkeeping position and Spain's recent World Cup record is surprisingly modest, with only three victories in 11 matches since lifting the trophy in 2010. Yet this team feels very different. The blend of youth, experience and tactical clarity is exceptional, and the demands of a North American summer should suit their ability to control possession and dictate tempo."
Golden Boot - Who will win it?
One of the most popular ways to enjoy a World Cup is to have a bet in the Golden Boot Winner market, so we have you covered here also.
Dave Tindall loves a trend or eight, and he has put all the key data into the now famous Tindall Time Machine to predict the future, and tell us who will win this year's Golden Boot based on the below criteria.
- Age
- Country
- Club
- International Appearances
- International Goals
- Goals Per Cap
- Club Goals That Season
- Penalty Taker
And after all that number crunching we can reveal that the winner of the 2026 World Cup Golden Boot will be... well we could tell you, but where's the fun in that.
Read Dave's fascinating preview here and find out for yourself.
Will Kevin Hatchard agree with Dave's trends?
One of Betfair's longest-standing contributors, top European commentator, and an all-round good egg has had his say on the Golden Boot market also, and while you'll have to read his preview for his top tip, below is a mini guide to some of the players Kev analyses.

Jimmy The Punt on how best to back England
With so many World Cup markets on Betfair it can be a bit daunting when it comes to finding the best way to support England, so sit back because Jimmy has done it all for you.
With guidance on England's Stage of Elimination, England Top Goalscorer, England Assists and Goals, and much more, Jimmy provides and excellent guide on how best to get England on side this summer.
You can read his preview in full here, but below is a little snippet to whet the appetite.
Jimmy The Punt: "Which leads us to Declan Rice - AKA England's dead ball man - at a joint-best industry price. He's got 20 assists in three league seasons at Arsenal and four in qualification, the latter is an assists per 90 average of 0.72."
Back Declan Rice to assist the most goals
Kevin Hatchard on how best to back Scotland
Expectations aren't as high for Scotland as they are for England, so in some ways it might even be harder to find bets featuring the Tartan Army, but fear not, Kevin Hatchard has looked at all the markets to come up with his best Scotland-related bets.
Kevin Hatchard: "I believe Scotland can score at least a couple of goals in a victory against Haiti, and then they might only need a goal against either Morocco or Brazil to see the bet land. As for McTominay, he scored seven goals in qualifying and netted in the recent drubbing of Bolivia."
Back Scotland to qualify, to score 3+ goals in the group and McTominay to score 1+ World Cup goals @

World Cup Day 1 Tips - Let the show begin
We haven't quite covered every single World Cup preview we have on site - yes, there really are more to come - but let's crack on with the World Cup opening day fixtures.
Paul Higham has previewed the tournament curtain raiser - Mexico v South Africa - while Mark Stinchcombe has done a tipsheet on the first day's games.
Mexico v South Africa
Paul: "Mexico are unbeaten (W5 D2) in World Cup games at the Azteca, and their recent form looks more than good enough to keep that run going - winning six of eight with two draws against European powerhouses Portugal and Belgium.
"Five of South Africa's last six have seen both teams score, but it's 31/202.55 for both sides to find the net here as with Mexico keeping six clean sheets in their recent eight-game stretch (scoring 15) a Mexico win to nil at 10/111.91 looks to be more of a decent shout."
Back Mexico to win to nil
South Korea v Czechia - Chance a 38/139.00 score/assist double
Mark: "Key target is captain Ladislav Krejci with five goals in his last 23 caps. Indeed he's very adept at getting on the end of deliveries managing 22 shots in this period. Key provider is Vladimir Coufal who takes corners, free-kicks and delivers long-throws. He averaged 1.5 key passes per-game in UEFA qualifying, 2.5 per-game in their latest UEFA Nations campaign and 2.7 per-game at EURO 2024."
Back Ladislav Krejci anytime goalscorer and Vladimir Coufal anytime assist
