NEC Nijmegen v Twente
Saturday 20 January, 15:30
We've specialised in painful near-misses in the last couple of weeks, and last night in Saudi Arabia was one of the worst, as Lautaro Martinez starred in a 3-0 win for Inter over Lazio, but we were one corner short of landing our Bet Builder.
Despite all of this agony, we're not that far away from being in the black for the year, so let's put a spring in our step and head to the Netherlands. NEC Nijmegen are up against Twente, and there should be goals on the cards.
Twente are having a strong season. The Enschede side are third in the Eredivisie, just two points behind the champions Feyenoord. If it wasn't for the flawless PSV - Peter Bosz's men have won all 17 of their league games and are 12 points clear at the top - Twente might even have found themselves in a title race.
Twente are scoring freely. They have rattled in 36 goals in 17 league games at an average of more than two per game, but they don't keep many clean sheets. Joseph Oosting's side have managed just four shut-outs in the league, and only one of those came in the last ten top-flight games.
NEC Nijmegen are in the hunt for the European places, as they are a creditable eighth. Their games this season have been a lot of fun - they have scored 33 times, but also conceded 30 goals.
We can use the Sportsbook's Bet Builder to back Over 2.5 Goals, BTTS and Over 6.5 Corners at 2.1411/10. Eight of Twente's last ten competitive games have seen both teams score and Over 2.5 Goals land, and that's true of ten of NEC's last 11 games in league and cup.
As for the corners, NEC's games average more than ten, while Twente's average is above nine, so we should (fingers crossed) clear a hurdle of seven corners with room to spare.
