League One new boys MK Dons are still seeking their first win of the season. Draws have been in good supply with stalemates against Leicester, Huddersfield and even though they scored three on Saturday, it wasn't enough as Wycombe also scored three.

It wasn't enough either for Michael Duff, who was the first managerial casualty and was promptly sacked at Adams Park.

The Dons and their brutal run of fixtures against the better teams is all the more credit they've taken something from those games, although they were far too defensive and negative against Leicester.

Peterborough have failed to win any of their last 10 away league games (D2 L8), losing their last five in succession while conceding 14 goals in the process and at 1/12.00 we're keeping it fairly simple with this one.

KEY OPTA STAT: Peterborough United have won their last three league games against MK Dons, and will be looking to win four in succession for the first time in the EFL.

I watched Bromley's Monday loss against Wimbledon on Sky, and to say it was 90 minutes of torture would be an understatement.

It was one of the worst games of football I've seen in a long time.

It's 14 goals conceded in three and while Andy Woodman has done a terrific job, it was a tough watch at Hayes Lane and the side don't look up to this level.

Blackpool are a typical madcap League One side. One moment winning 4-0, the next losing 2-1 and 3-1 away from home.

I am not convinced about Ian Evatt at Bloomfield Road but this is a game they should be winning and the 4/51.80 can be argued to be a little too big with Bromley, but the layers are wise to how inconsistent Blackpool have been already, and they won't face many poorer backlines than Peterborough when winning 4-0.

Leg 3: Oxford United v Burton Albion Tip: Back Oxford United @ 20/231.87

Oxford may have stumbled on a new way of playing. The counter.

On Saturday, Leicester manager Russell Martin was booed off and sparking some serious ire with the fans afterwards as they were ripped apart by Oxford - a side who like the ball usually, but enjoyed just 36% of the ball.

Oxford had a bit more composure than previously shown and the triggers to attack and when to go meant they produced a brilliant display.

The win is no good if they cannot back it up, and with Oxford losing just one of their last eight home league games (W4 D3), a run which has seen them concede 2+ goals on just one occasion, I don't mind the 20/231.87 price.

KEY OPTA STAT: After winning three of their four away league games against Oxford United between 2014 and 2019 (L1), Burton Albion have since lost their last four in succession.

League Two

Leg 1: Walsall v Rochdale Tip: Back Walsall @ 4/51.80

Rochdale have conceded 10 goals across their opening five League Two matches this season, only the second time across their last 40 Football League campaigns in which they've shipped 10+ goals at this stage of the season (13 in 2018-19).

That kind of fragile backline is hardly one to rely on going into battle and Walsall should be backed here to convert.

Lee Grant was a manager I thought would do well at Huddersfield last term and so far his team are unbeaten across all games and at home put three past Accrington recently, and that's the sort of front foot side I want to see more of from Grant.

The "too many draws" aspect is obviously a slight concern as 75.4% of their League Two matches so far this season have finished level - the second-highest percentage, behind only Northampton (77.5%), but Rochdale conceded three at Newport and four at home to Gillingham on Saturday.

KEY OPTA STAT: Rochdale have won four of their last six away league games against Walsall (D1 L1), though did lose 1-0 on their last visit in October 2022.

Leg 2: Port Vale v Exeter City Tip: Back BTTS 'No' @ 4/51.80

This has been a very worrying start for Vale fans under Jon Brady and with just two points and hardly a goal to shou7t about, the drop is already looking likely.

Brady's side are struggling badly in front of goal and bar the penalty against Tranmere, they've scored just once in open play and currently hold an xG for the season at 1.28.

The Grecians have scored one from their two away games so far and look far more of a counter attack team happy to give up the ball and remain winless across their last 11 away league games (D5 L6), though their last victory on the road did come against Port Vale - a 3-1 success in January.

Vale will probably have the majority of possession but do little with it and backing Under 2.5 Goals or BTTS looks a play here.

KEY OPTA STAT: Port Vale have failed to win their opening five league games of a season for the second successive campaign (D2 L3); before last season, Vale had suffered that fate just twice in their prior 57 seasons combined in the EFL.

Leg 3: Barnet v Accrington Stanley Tip: Back Barnet and Over 2.5 Goals @ 7/42.75

In no way could you accuse Barnet of being dull. Save for the three draws on the spin, it has been a terrific start with the Bees unbeaten.

They conceded on 90 at Chesterfield on Saturday in a 3-3 and it's becoming a cause of worry they haven't kept a clean sheet all season.

However, goals are often exquisite and Tom Knowles bagged yet another peach and the Bees have already got to xG at home of 2.00, and are unbeaten across their last 14 League Two fixtures (W9 D5), the club's longest unbeaten run in the Football League.

With the entertainment a nice clean sheet would be nice, but for the purpose of the bet we can boost the Barnet win here by adding the Over 2.5 Goals on the Sportsbook for a nice 7/42.75 price.
