Friday Football Tips: Foul play can reward at Stamford Bridge

Bobby de Cordova-Reid, Fulham
Bobby de Cordova-Reid: Has been racking up the fouls of late

Our football props column is focusing on the fouls markets for Friday night's Premier League derby between Chelsea and Fulham...

  • Foul markets worth looking at

  • Fernandez to commit at least one foul on debut

  • Three players to back in 2.8415/8 Bet Builder

  • As derbies go, the West London one hasn't always held the greatest appeal to the neutral.

But Friday's renewal certainly has plenty of intrigue - and that could add spice to the occasion.

Unusually, Fulham come into the game as the higher-placed side in the league standings, with Chelsea languishing in 10th after a miserable start to the campaign.

With just two wins in their last 10 games, new boss Graham Potter really needs to start turning things around, especially with the club having spent money like it's going out of fashion over the past month.

Seven new faces arrived at Stamford Bridge in January for eyewatering sums and for props punters it often pays to do your research on the new boys.

With the potential for a real battle here, the foul markets look worth looking at to me and in this field new Chelsea centre-back Benoit Badiashile looks good for 1+ foul.

He landed this bet in 12 of 14 starts for Monaco this season and added to his tally at Anfield last time out.

With Aleksandar Mitrovic to deal with here, another foul looks likely.

The £100 million man Enzo Fernandez seems likely to go straight into the side, as long as his international paperwork is sorted, and the Argentine's foul numbers are also good.

For Benfica this season, he's committed at least one foul in 20 of his 26 games.

His tussle with former Sporting Lisbon star Joao Palhinha should be good to watch - and produce fouls.

Finally, let's add a Fulham man to the Bet Builder, namely Bobby de Cordova-Reid.

He's landed the 1+ foul bet in 12 of his last 13 starts, hitting the 2+ mark in six of the last 11.

De-Cordova Reid has played at right-back, right wing-back and right wing during that run of games but wherever he ends up here (probably the latter) he's likely to have Chelsea new boy Mikhailo Mudryk in his area of the pitch.

The Ukrainian made a lively start to his Chelsea career in the goalless draw at Liverpool a couple of weeks ago, showing off the dribbling skills which look likely to draw fouls in the Premier League.

Put the three fouls legs together and you get a price close to 2/1.

It would be wrong not to point out that referee Stuart Attwell doesn't produce the highest foul counts but the reverse fixture last month saw 28 committed - well above the league average of 21.09 - and the nature of this clash should push Attwell above his season average of 19.15.
