Galatasaray and Bayern put on a show for us in Turkiye last night, as the Turkish champions went hell for leather for 70 minutes, only to blow themselves out and be picked off in a 3-1 defeat. That crazy contest landed our Bet Builder with room to spare.
We'll look to continue our perfect start to the week in Catalonia, because Barcelona are in action against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.
Barca took big risks last summer, embarking on a lavish spending spree designed to keep the club relevant and marketable at the top of European football. President Joan Laporta insists the gamble has worked, although last season there were mixed fortunes - Barca were crowned as Spanish champions, but they failed to escape the Champions League group stage, and were dumped out of the Europa League by Manchester United.
This season things are rather better on the European stage. Barca swept aside Antwerp 5-0, and then edged out Porto 1-0 at the Dragao, which isn't an easy thing to do. In La Liga, Barca are just a point off top spot. At the weekend, they secured a dramatic 1-0 with over Athletic Club, as 17-year-old Marc Guiu scored the winner less than a minute into his La Liga debut.
After losing comfortably to Porto, Shakhtar got their European campaign back on track on Matchday 2 with a remarkable 3-2 comeback win in Belgium against Antwerp. Shakhtar were 2-0 down, but the Pitmen fought back (via two dreadful goalkeeping errors from Jean Butez and a deflected free-kick) to lead 3-2. They then conceded a penalty right at the death, only for Toby Aldeweireld to fire wide from the spot.
Barca have won all of their home games this term at their temporary base at the Estadio Montjuic, which is the old Olympic Stadium. They should have too much quality for a Shakhtar side that has been shorn of its best players because of the ongoing war in Ukraine, and it's worth remembering that Shakhtar have already leaked five goals in the group stage.
I'll back Barcelona's Joao Felix to score at any time at 2.226/5. He's been in exceptional form since joining on loan from Atletico Madrid, scoring three goals and setting up three more across the league and Champions League. He's come desperately close to scoring on many occasions, and I think he'll find the net tonight.
