QPR

Queens Park Rangers have had a turbulent history since being founded in 1882. The club currently play at Loftus Road, which has been their on-off home since 1917. Due to Loftus Road's size, it can only hold 18,439 fans. Talk has been building for years now that the side will soon be looking for a new home.

The greatest Hoops success came in 1967 when they lifted the League Cup. Besides that, they finished runners-up in the top flight in 1976 and were beaten FA Cup finalists in 1982. However, they won the second division in the 1982-83 season and were victorious again in 2010-11.

2011 saw QPR's return to the top-flight after a 17-year absence. However, they only managed two seasons in the Premier League and were subsequently relegated in 2013.
After years of financial woe, Formula One supremos Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore bought the club in 2007. Soon after, Britain's richest man Lakshmi Mittal invested. The new influx of cash was the catalyst behind QPR's promotion.

Following their promotion, Bernie Ecclestone sold his 66% stake in the club to Air Asia supremo Tony Fernandes, a West Ham fan, for £35million. Despite the millions pumped into the club and three different managers, he couldn't establish QPR as a top-flight club.

Striker Rodney Marsh is held dear by QPR fans; he scored 106 goals in his 211 appearances before Manchester City signed him in 1972 for a club record £200,000. Midfielder Gerry Francis managed the club when they were initially in the Premier League and signed Les Ferdinand, but he also made 312 appearances.

Signed from non-league Hayes, Les Ferdinand was one of QPR's all-time greats. The imposing forward was one of the most feared strikers in England and during his time at Loftus Road he scored 80 goals in 163 games. Ferdinand was sold to Newcastle for £6million in 1995, making the club a tidy profit on the £5,000 that they had paid Hayes.

In the Fernandes era it has been a transfer merry go round. Esteban Granero, Stephane Mbia, Loic Remy, and Chris Samba were all signed but have since left, while the controversial figure of Joey Barton has returned to the club despite pledging not to.

QPR play in a number of West London derbies against Fulham, Chelsea and Brentford. The Fulham game is currently the fixture with the most bite due to Fulham sharing Loftus Road with them back in 2002.
