Norwich City is a professional football club founded in 1902. They currently take part in the Premier League, which is the top flight of English football.

The club play their home games at Carrow Road, which has a capacity of 27,260. Their home shirt colours are yellow and green and they have the nickname of the Canaries.
Norwich took part in their first ever game against Harwich & Parkeston on September 6th, 1902. Three years later they turned professional.
Not long after dropping their amateur status, they were elected into the Southern League. As their crowds were building, they left their initial home at Newmarket Road and headed to The Nest.
Unfortunately, after a period of financial difficulty, the Norfolk club went into liquidation in 1917. The club was reformed on February 15th, 1919. A year later they entered the Football League in the Third Division. They drew their opening game against Plymouth 1-1 on August 28th, 1920.
In the 1933-1934 season, the Canaries were champions of the Third Division, which gained them promotion into the Second Division for the first time in the club's history.
Their fan base was continuing to grow so they moved to their current home, Carrow Road, in 1935 which allowed them to house more spectators. They set a record attendance there against West Ham on August 31st that year as 29,779 saw them defeat the Hammers 4-3.
Their first major trophy came in 1962 when they lifted the League Cup. They defeated bottom division side Rochdale over two legs. In 1985 they also won the same trophy, this time at Wembley, beating Sunderland 1-0 in the final.
It took Norwich until 1972 to gain promotion into the top flight, then known as the First Division. They did so as champions of the Second Division. Unfortunately for them at the time, they only spent two seasons in the top league before being relegated back down to the second tier.
When they won the Second Division in 1986, it started a run of nine consecutive seasons in the First Division. That meant they were one of the founding members of the Premier Division in 1992.
Norwich's highest ever finish came in 1993 when they ended up third in the Premier League table. They actually led for most of that campaign but results in the final stages cost them the title. Their position did gain them qualification into the UEFA Cup, though, where they advanced into the third round.
In the late 2000s they dropped all the way down to the third tier, but got back up into the Premier League in 2011 where they currently remain.
