Leicester City

Leicester City Football Club were first formed in 1884. They were initially known as Leicester Fosse due to their home being a field near Fosse Road. The club played at five different grounds over the next seven years before moving to Filbert Street in 1891, where they spent 111 years before moving to the Walkers Stadium, now named the King Power Stadium since 2002.

Known as The Foxes, Leicester have won League One (previously the Second Division) on seven occasions, their most recent title coming in the 2008/2009 season in the club's sole season outside the two top leagues in English football. Since their return to the second tier, Leicester have been seeking a route back to the Premier League, looking to end a ten-year absence from England's top flight after their relegation in 2004.

Despite reaching four FA Cup finals, Leicester have so far failed to win the competition and hold the record for most defeats in the final without a victory. They have won the League Cup three times, currently the highest total of a club which has never won the League or the FA Cup, with their most recent success coming in a memorable 2-1 win against Tranmere Rovers in 2000.

In August 2010, following agreement on a three-year shirt sponsorship deal with the King Power Group, a Thai-led consortium named Asian Football Investments (AFI) fronted by King Power Group's Vichai Raksriaksorn bought the club from Milan Manderic, retaining the former owner as chairman for a short spell. The current owners have invested significant funds in search of promotion from the Championship, building as strong a squad as there is outside the Premier League.

During a colourful few years, the club have been managed by Paulo Sousa and former England head coach Sven-Goran Eriksson, both without much success. In 2011, Nigel Pearson returned to the club for his second spell as manager following his first stint between 2008-2010.

Since his return to the Foxes, Pearson has achieved the best win ratio of any permanent manager in the club's history at 51.40%, and there is real belief that the current Leicester boss could be the man to lead the club back into the Premier League. With the likes of David Nugent, Kasper Schmeichel, Jeffrey Schlupp and Marcin Wasilewski at his disposal, Pearson knows he has the talent at his disposal for the club to get back into the Premier League.
