Barnsley feature in Andy Robson's Saturday treble

The Tykes, the Minstermen and the Shots are involved in Andy Robson's treble this Saturday in three crucial encounters at the business end of the season in League One, the National League and Scottish League One...

  • Goals backed in L1 at Oakwell

  • Shots backed to fire at York

  • Andy's Saturday 3-fold comes to 11/26.50

Leg 1 - Barnsley v Cheltenham Town, EFL 1

Tip: Back Barnsley to win + Over 1.5 goals

Both teams head into this match with great need for the points. Cheltenham can see a sizeable gap directly above them that they have to bridge in order to secure survival in League One. Barnsley have dropped to fifth in the table and need the maximum points to keep a realistic hope of automatic promotion alive.

These circumstancecs should point to goals, and especially so when Barnsley are playing. Their last 10 matches in a row have seen both teams score, and it is actually 19 of their last 20 in total. The reason that BTTS is not the bet in this fixture, though, is the visitors.

Cheltenham have failed to score in three of their last seven away from home, and they haven't scored twice away from home since a visit to Vale Park in October. They may well score at Oakwell, as we have seen already, most teams do, but Barnsley's firepower is usually reliable enough to get the job done in this bet at a bigger, over even money, price.

Barnsley home matches have served up an average of 3.32 goals per game this season, with 89% of them going over 1.5 goals, and 74% over 2.5 goals. Importantly, from a confidence perspective, Barnsley came from behind to win against Carlisle in midweek, which should've banished the bad memories of conceding twice late on to Bolton and then suffering a real hangover against Lincoln.

Cheltenham have picked up only 12 points away from home all season, while Barnsley are still third in the last eight form table. In a match where motivation should be equal between the teams, the better team should be favoured to come out on top in a potentially high-scoring affair.

Leg 2 - York City v Aldershot Town, 15:00, National League

Tip: Back Aldershot Town draw no bet

Aldershot will visit York in a clash of significant importance at both ends of the National League table.

York have failed to win any of their last eight league matches, with this run of form seeing the hosts slip to 23rd place. The arrival of new manager Adam Hinshelwood has failed to kickstart a positive run, with the Minstermen failing to win any of his first four games in charge.

The hosts have clearly had issues at both ends under Hinshelwood, scoring an average of just one goal per game, while conceding an average of three.

An impressive run of form has seen Aldershot rise to fifth place in the National league, five points clear of those outside of the play-off places. The Shots have won five of their last six outings, beating promotion rivals Altrincham, Barnet and Oldham in the process.

Aldershot will expect to pick up three points from this clash. However, York have forced nine draws at home this season. Therefore, backing 'draw no bet' is a sensible angle in.

Leg 1 - Montrose v Annan Athletic, 15:00, Scottish League One

Tip: Back Both teams to score

Backing both teams to score at Links Park looks a strong bet, with both Montrose and Annan involved in a string of high-scoring matches lately.

Montrose's last four games read four successive victories, but what is interesting is the sheer number of goals that these matches have produced. Their results have been: 4-2, 3-2, 4-3 and 4-1. Goals are flying in at both ends.

There is a similar story at Galabank, where Annan are doing their best to fire themselves out of the relegation play-off spot with a barrage of goals. The Borderers have only kept a couple of clean sheets this season, which has been a notable weakness, yet they have an impressive attacking record. In every match they have played a part-time opponent this season, they have found the net.

The previous fixtures between these clubs certainly point to goals. After Montrose won the first game of the season between the two in the south of Scotland, the teams have shared two draws, the first a 1-1 game at Links Park and the second a 2-2 thriller.

Both teams still have a significant motivation to strive for results, too. While Annan's need is obviously greater as they try to muster a great escape at the foot of the table, Montrose's place in the promotion play-offs is far from assured.

With the matches of both of these teams having produced 93 goals this season, expect more at Links Park at both ends.
