CSKA Moscow are a professional football team based in Russia. Their full name is PFC Central Sport Club of the Army, Moscow.

The football club is based in the Russian capital and they play their home games at the Arena Khimki, which has the capacity to hold 18,630 fans. They currently share the stadium with Dynamo Moscow.
During the communist era in the country, CSKA were the official team of the Soviet Army. They are now privately owned, with the Ministry of Defence just one of their shareholders.
CSKA Moscow were founded in 1911 when they were originally known as Obshestvo Lyubiteley Lyzhnogo Sports (OLLS). After several near misses in their early stages of existence, the club won the Soviet Top League for the first time in 1946. They then defended their title for the next two years.
Success followed in 1950 and 1951 as they made it five titles in six years following World War Two. They then had to wait 19 years for their next league championship in 1970.
The Russian Premier League was set up in 2001, and CSKA Moscow were one of the founding members. They won that competition for the first time in 2003 before further success came along in 2005, 2006 and, more recently, 2013.
The club took its current name in 1960. It was their seventh change in title since being founded in 1911 as OLLS.
CSKA Moscow have won one international competition to date in their history. That came in the UEFA Cup in 2005. They beat Sporting CP in Lisbon 3-1 in the final to get their hands on the trophy. The Russian club got past Benfica, Partizan, Auxerre and Parma in the knockout stages to book their spot at the Estadio Jose Alvade for the final. Goals from Aleksei Berezutsky, Yuri Zhirkov and Vagner Love helped them bounce back from 1-0 down to defeat their Portuguese opponents.
They were unable to win the UEFA Super Cup later that year when they faced the Champions League winners Liverpool. The English side won 3-1 at the Stade Louis II in Monaco.
Vladimi Fedotov holds the record for the most league appearances for the club. He appeared on 381 occasions between 1960 and 1975. He is second in the leading league goalscorer table for CSKA with 93 goals to his name. Grigory Fedotov still tops the list with the 126 goals he scored during his spell there from 1938 to 1949.
