World Cup Day 3 Tips and Predictions
Jack Critchley: Qatar crashed out of the 2022 tournament in the group stage despite staging the event, and they will be hoping for a far better outcome this time around. Unfortunately, this current crop of players looks weaker than the previous batch, and the appointment of Julen Lopetegui has yet to yield much positivity. The former West Ham boss has lost seven of his first 12, and his squad looks desperately short of firepower.
They have been drawn in a relatively kind section, alongside Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina. This will be their toughest task in Group B, and they could struggle to break down this experienced Swiss outfit. Murat Yakin's side are ruthlessly efficient at this stage of the tournament, and they also sailed through qualifying, conceding just two goals.
They're unbeaten in each of their last six opening World Cup group matches, keeping clean sheets against France, Spain and Cameroon. Qatar have been weak in recent away games, struggling outside the Gulf State and they aren't likely to find the back of the net on Saturday evening.
Back Switzerland to Win to Nil
Paul Higham: The Selecao have won 17 of their last 20 World Cup openers, drawing the other three, while Morocco have never won their first game at a World Cup - drawing three and losing three of their previous six. The draw here is 14/5 and wouldn't be that big of a surprise.
Under 2.5 goals is favoured at 3/4 and no wonder, as Morocco have kept seven clean sheets in their last 10 games, conceded just once from open play in seven games at AFCON and let in one goal in their first five games at the last World Cup - with clean sheets against Spain, Portugal, Belgium and Croatia.
This really does look a tough one for Ancelotti, as Morocco are decent on the break, and I can see both sides being reasonably happy with a draw - one of them may pinch it late on but it won't be a goalfest.
Back a 0-0 draw at half-time
Kevin Hatchard: This is an awkward spot for Scotland, but the conditions in Boston on what is Saturday night there shouldn't be too oppressive, and although they weren't perfect against outsiders Belarus in qualifying they did beat them home and away. T
hat's not a perfect comparison, but it shows what Steve Clarke's men can do when they have to force the tempo against a team that's looking to contain and counter.
I'll use the Asian Handicap here to back Scotland -1.0 at 2.05. If Scotland win by a single goal we have our stake returned, but a bigger success sees us pick up an odds-against payout.

Scott McTominay was involved in more goals than any other Scotland player in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, scoring twice and delivering one assist. He was also only one of three players to start all six of Scotland's qualifying matches, along with John McGinn and Andy Robertson.
Back McTominay to score or assist
Andy Robson: The bet landed in 13 of Brazil's 18 qualifying outings. Morocco's opposition were carded three times or more in six of their eight qualifiers. Slavko Vincic averages dishing out 4.19 cards per game. With the new officiating rules being enforced and the pressure of a World Cup opening round, this looks a great price to snap up, and it's the longest in this acca.
