David de Gea return to Atletico shortens to 5/2

David de Gea shortened to 5/23.50 from 11/112.00 for a return to Atletico Madrid as speculation about the goalkeeper's future continued following the news he has left Manchester United.

They are closing in on a deal for Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana to become the new Old Trafford number one.

De Gea's 12-year United career is over after he failed to agree terms on a new contract and both parties decided to go their separate ways.

A move to Saudi Arabia is the favourite option for De Gea at evens but a return to the club he left for United in 2011 is not out of the question.

He was born in Madrid and rose through the academy at Atletico. In 2015, however, he came within a delayed fax message of signing for Real Madrid on transfer deadline day.

De Gea may fancy a return to Atletico but do they need him? The Spanish club have Jan Oblak, the highly-regarded Slovenian, as their goalkeeper and the former-United man would be unlikely to get into the team ahead of Oblak.

A move to the MLS can be backed at 13/2 while Bayern Munich and Spanish club Sevilla are 17/2 shots.
