Vikingur Reykjavik v Stjarnan
Saturday 24 June, 20:15
We can cross Derry City's Tiernan McGinty off our Christmas list, as his 90th-minute strike gave the hosts a 2-0 win that ruined our Bet Builder. A 1-0 defeat for our boys Cork City would've been fine, but we were punched in the guts right at the end.
We'll try to shake off that blow and head to Iceland now, because the top-flight leaders Vikingur are in action against Stjarnan, and I fancy the home side to pick up another win.
Reykjavik-based Vikingur have won 10 of their 12 games so far this season, and they have conceded a paltry eight goals along the way. They are also flying along in the Icelandic Cup, having won all three rounds, scoring ten goals along the way. Goalscoring isn't a problem in the league either, as Vikingur have smashed in 28 goals in 12 outings.
Stjarnan are in the dropzone, and have collected just 11 points from 11 games so far. Their away form is atrocious. They have lost four of their last five away games in the league, and if you stretch back further it's eight defeats in ten. They have already conceded 18 goals, although that's quite modest for the goal-crazy league that is the Urvalsdeild.
If you look at Vikingur's ten league wins this term, seven have been by at least two goals, so I'll simply back the hosts -1.0 on the Asian Handicap at 1.84/5.
