James Tarkowski: Major threat on set-pieces

"Tarkowski has managed a header at goal in four of the six games so far, with one hitting the target in two of them."

James Tarkowski has been a constant menace on set pieces this season and should get chances against leaky Norwich and Andy Schooler has a related 5/1 tip...

James Tarkowski is a player I've been following of late in the shots markets and he looks worth focusing on in this clash of the Premier League's bottom two.

While both sides are yet to win, there's little doubt Norwich have looked the worst.

They've shipped 16 goals already and haven't looked like winning a game, most recently losing 2-0 at Everton when Daniel Farke was left bemoaning a missed opportunity from a set-piece which sounded rather like clutching at straws.

The truth was they struggled to create chances and their hosts were deserved winners.

On the same day, only a marginal VAR call denied Burnley victory at Leicester last week and I'd expect them to triumph here.

They've long been strong on set-plays and that's an area which could make all the difference in this fixture.

The Clarets have already scored three goals from such situations this season - only Liverpool and Chelsea have more - while Norwich have conceded twice and haven't convinced with their defending on set-pieces.

Their former striker Iwan Roberts, now a pundit in the local media, hit the nail on the head the other day when he said: "It is far too easy at the minute to score against Norwich from set-pieces.

"That is just a lack of organisation and players taking responsibility to go and compete for the ball when it is delivered in."

Tarkowski looks capable of taking advantage.

He's managed a header at goal in four of the six games so far, with one hitting the target in two of them.

Given Norwich's problems, the 5/1 OddsBoost (from 4/1) about Tarkowski having a headed shot on target here looks big and worth backing.

A related price which may tempt some is the 40/1 about Tarkowski having a shot on target in each half.

Admittedly the England defender hasn't managed two shots on target in a game yet this season but he did have three efforts on goal at home to Brighton earlier in the season and two at Liverpool.

The opponents look good for him to get more chances here.
