RB Leipzig boss Marco Rose needs a win against Union Berlin

After a week of ups and downs, Kevin Hatchard hopes to end on a high with a winner in Germany.

We ended up one goal and one corner short in the Netherlands last night, as our boys PSV were held to a 1-1 draw at Ajax. Considering PSV's first goal came in the 34th minute, it was disappointing to see the scoring end after that for the visitors.

We started this week like a rocket, and we've lost a bit of speed since, but there is time to finish the week in the black. We'll wrap up in the German Bundesliga, because RB Leipzig are in action against relegation-threatened Union Berlin, and there's a hot-shot in great form who I think can find the net.

It's been a shocking start to 2024 for RB Leipzig. They were on the wrong end of a defensive masterclass in a 1-0 home defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt, they twice led in a 3-2 home loss to Bayer Leverkusen, and last weekend they were smashed 5-2 at high-flying Stuttgart. There's no indication at this stage that coach Marco Rose is close to the edge, but he needs to get the top-four push back on track.

Fortunately for Rose, Belgian goal-getter Lois Openda continues to shine amidst the recent gloom. The former Lens and Club Brugge forward has scored 17 goals in all competitions, and he has found the net in three of his last four league games.

Union Berlin are still in relegation danger, and coach Nenad Bjelica is still suspended after his outrageous behaviour towards Leroy Sané in the recent defeat at Bayern. While Bjelica has improved the team's home form, the capital club continue to struggle on their travels. They have suffered nine defeats in their last 11 Bundesliga away games, and they haven't even scored on the road since early October.

I'll keep this simple and back the excellent Openda to score at 1.9310/11 on the Betfair Exchange.
