Hamburg v Eintracht Braunschweig
Friday, 24 November, 17:30
Chelsea did us proud in the Women's Champions League last night, as they swept aside Paris FC 4-1 to land our home win and BTTS combination. We'll head to northern Germany now, because in-form Hamburg are up against struggling Eintracht Braunschweig in the second tier.
Hamburg have been knocking on the promotion door for years, and seem to find ever more inventive ways of failing to reach the promised land. The former European champions were moments away from promotion on the final day of last season, only for rivals Heidenheim to score twice in stoppage time of their game at Jahn Regensburg to turn a desperate defeat into a famous promotion-clinching win.
Hamburg have lost the promotion/relegation playoff in each of the last two seasons, and have kept faith with coach Tim Walter. This time, HSV hope they won't need a playoff. They are currently second in the standings, a point behind leaders and city rivals St.Pauli.
Hamburg have been flawless at their Volksparkstadion. They have won all six home matches, and have kept clean sheets in the last five. Five of the six wins have been by a multiple-goal margin.
Conversely, Lower Saxony outfit Eintracht Braunschweig are struggling. Although they have won back-to-back games, including a victory against St.Pauli, their road form is appalling. EBS have lost all six of their away games, and have scored a single goal in the process.
Hamburg are great at home, and Braunschweig are awful away, so we'll keep this simple. Back Hamburg -1.5 on the Asian Handicap at 1.9420/21.
