We're kicking off the weekend in Germany, and Kev's expecting goals in the second tier.
- Fortuna strong at home
- Newly promoted Lautern well on the way to safety
Fortuna Düsseldorf v Kaiserslautern
Friday 11 November, 17:30
It was a Greek tragedy for us last night, as Ionikos crumbled to a 3-0 home defeat against PAOK. We've had to sell that classical statue we bought for the lounge, and we move on with our collective tail between the legs. We head to Germany, because there's an intriguing game in Bundesliga 2. between Fortuna Düsseldorf and Kaiserslautern to enjoy.
While Rhineland trio Bayer Leverkusen, Köln and Borussia Mönchengladbach are enjoying life in the top flight, their neighbours Fortuna have their faces pressed up against the glass. Last term they finished tenth in the second tier, well short of the promotion spots. Former Hamburg boss Daniel Thioune is in charge of this season's efforts, but it's been a rollercoaster ride.
Fortuna have won five and lost five across their last ten league matches, and while their home form is strong, with five wins in seven, a recent home defeat to Nürnberg was a slap in the face. Thioune's side are finding clean sheets hard to come by, with just two in the last ten games.
Kaiserslautern were in serious financial difficulty recently, and there were fears they might go out of business entirely, but they were promoted via the playoffs last term, and former Darmstadt and Augsburg boss Dirk Schuster is doing a fine job. Lautern are a healthy seventh, with 26 points racked up already. They have fired in 27 goals in 16 games, and they have scored at least once in 12 of those games.
Fortuna are generally playing very well at home, while Lautern are on a run of three wins in four, and with two confident sides on show I'll back BTTS here at 1.84/5.
Back Both Teams To Score at 1.84/5
