Aleksandar Mitrovic: Scored 28 goals in 28 games in the Saudi Pro League this season

The Saudi Arabian season concludes with the King's Cup final on Friday night but our football props column expects disappointment for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Let's be honest, it's been a struggle this week in this column, not helped by the lack of match choice on offer.

The European club season reaches its conclusion on Saturday with the Champions League final but we're still scratching around on Friday.

Leg 1: Aleksandar Mitrovic to score

In times of trouble, it's usually good to turn to what you know and one thing I'm pretty sure about is that Aleksandar Mitrovic is too good to be playing in Saudi Arabia.

The 29-year-old Serb will get a chance to show that to a wider audience at Euro 2024 in a few weeks' time - roll on 'proper' matches! - but those who have followed events in Saudi this season will already know that.

A man who scored 14 Premier Lague goals for Fulham last season has 39 in 42 appearances for his new club. In the Saudi Pro League, he finished second behind Cristiano Ronaldo in the scorers' charts with 28 in 28, finding the net in 22 of those matches as Al-Hilal won the title at a canter.

They went undefeated, winning 31 of 34 matches, scoring more than 100 goals and conceding only 23.

Leg 2: Al-Hilal to win

On Friday, they attempt to complete the domestic Treble by facing Ronaldo's Al-Nassr in the King's Cup final.

Al-Nassr may have a plethora of big names - Sadio Mane, Aymeric Laporte (suspended for this one) and Marcelo Brozovic all play alongside Ronaldo - but they only finished runners-up in the league, some 14 points back as Jorge Jesus was the manager who was able to shape his stars into a true team.

The sides have already met five times this season, Al-Hilal winning three and Al-Nassr one. The three most important games saw Al-Hilal win 3-0 at home in the league and draw 0-0 away, while the sides' Super Cup semi-final went the champions' way, 2-1.

Mitrovic scored in both wins and that looks the way to go again - Mitrovic to score and Al-Hilal to win pays 9/52.80.

Yes, Al-Hilal are without Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (suspended) but Ruben Neves was also in double figures for assists in the Pro League so the supply lines remain for Mitrovic, who will relish facing a defence shorn of its star man.
