Barry Robson: Aberdeen manager doesn't want to sit back
Barry Robson: Aberdeen manager

Aberdeen and Hacken produced an entertaining Europa League game last week and our football props column is expecting more of the same on Thursday night...

With Aston Villa having hosed up in their European first leg last week, there's little of interest at Villa Park on Thursday.

Armchair fans would do a lot worse than switch on Aberdeen's Europa League play-off instead, certainly if last week's first leg is anything to go by.

Leg 1: Both teams to score

An open, fast-paced game unfolded in Sweden, the Dons coming from two down to earn a 2-2 draw and make themselves favourites to reach the group stage.

Aberdeen manager Barry Robson admitted afterwards that "maybe we were a bit gung-ho and dangerous at times but I would rather do that than sit in".

Such comments hardly suggest a complete change of approach here.

The nature of last week's game, and the state it leaves the tie in, immediately makes both teams to score appeal in the second leg.

In addition, four of Aberdeen's five games this season have now seen both teams find the net, while it's six of the last eight when it comes to Hacken.

Legs 2/3: Each team over 1.5 cards

The appointment of referee Daniel Siebert also catches the eye.

He's long been one of the UEFA competitions' leading officials in card terms - 25 of his last 33 European club games have seen 4+ cards.

There were a few choice challenges in last week's game and with the tie finely balanced and plenty at stake for these sides, I'd expect the German to be busy again here.

Leg 4: Over 4.5 cards in the match

Over 1.5 cards for each team makes perfect sense, while I'm also happy to add over 4.5 cards in the match.

Put the four legs together into a Bet Builder and you get odds around the 9/43.25 mark.

It's not mouthwatering but break it all down and it looks a decent play.

Back both teams to score, each team over 1.5 cards & over 4.5 cards @ around 9/43.25
